we are the backbone of society
being severely disabled may leave me mostly housebounds and somedays mostly bedbound, and make it very difficult for me to live my life much les exist
but that doesn't mean i need to diminsh what i can do and enjoy in life! i am just as much a person as abled people are.
my life may seem sad or wasted to some assholes out there, but that's on them for undervaluing disabled people and our personhood.
we have things we enjoy! we're allowed to romanticize what we can in our lives! i'm someone who loves creativity in any form. and the most accessible creativity for me is admiring others creations! i love stories! i love projects and art!
and it doesnt matter if i dont "contribute to society" like abled people do. disabled people are allowed to have things they love and not have it be overshadowed by ableism!
if you love someone enough you should be able to hug them really tight and pop into the same body as them and never have to leave like its aristophanes's myth of the spherical human

When my students talk over me I do this bit where I quietly tell them I’m really shy and to please let me talk and somehow it works.

the dancing scene in Tangled always gets to me because like... the king and queen are grieving, this is the hardest day for them, they don't take part in the celebration other than lighting the first lantern. but she's right there she's in the town the person you miss she's in the town she's painting the streets she's singing she's playing with the children. the person you're grieving is here and she's alive and she's dancing outside your window

It's so funny being a system with fictives and having system friends with fictives because you'll realise that wildly unrelated characters have things in common. Sure, Rapunzel from Tangled and Rumi from kpdh can have in-depth conversation about mommy issues and hair. Sure, Donatello the ninja turtle is relating to something that the Red Hood (vigilante crime lord assasin) made. And then you think about it like, huh. Why are they lowk similar.
“Do it scared” “do it alone” are all great tips, but my biggest takeaway from therapy is do it messy. This is especially true if you’re getting out of a burnout, which I experience often. Literally just do it messy. You don’t need to pick the perfect trail to walk, the perfect playlist to listen to, whatever the fuck it is. You don’t need to have a meticulous to do list and wake up at the exact time you planned and drink the exact amount of water you planned to drink. Like the biggest thing for people like me to remember is sometimes it’s okay to do it messy. Put on a random yt workout and just get it done in sweats. Do 5 minutes of a daunting task and go from there. Sometimes just getting up is a win during intense burnouts or depressive funks. Literally just do it messy.

if you're against incarceration then you have to be against psychiatric incarceration. you cannot pick and choose who "deserves" to be incarcerated.
The lack of options for disabled people who can't live alone/fully alone is really scary. The options are residential facilities, supported living, aids, and other notoriously abusive and expensive things or family, friends, or a partner(s), who are also often abusive.
The risk of abuse when you're disabled and have to rely on others is very high and getting out of an abusive situation is already hard without being disabled. And if you do get out of it, then what? You're still disabled and still need that help.
Facts about involuntary psychiatric hold:
The United Nations recognises it as a form of torture.
It increases suicide risk by 191 times.
It increases the risk of dying from heart disease and stroke by 3.5 times (no shit on that one, forcing extremely high doses of heavy drugs on someone without even titrating it does that)
45% of patients in psych wards have experienced sexual violence during an admission.
You are a shitty person if you try to get someone involuntarily committed.
