There's something special about Shane's gear in his mind. By the time Shane turns seventeen, he's pretty much fully grown. He won't have to worry about buying new gear because he's suddenly outgrown it. It soothes his mind that what he wears in juniors will be able to follow him into the NHL. Then Rozanov and the CCM commercial happens, and the gear on his back feels a little more sacred. The thought of changing his gear has always left him with a bitter taste in his mouth. It's worse now.
