RECIPE FOR TOFU FRIES?
Hello, anon!Wow these are delicious. Well, the key with cooking with tofu is to use as little liquid as possible when frying, so that the tofu is dry and workable. Cut a block of extra firm tofu (Nasoya is a good brand) in half and dry kt with a paper towel. Then cut it down the middle, and in sections to be sized like a crinkle cut french fry would be. Lay the strips in the pan on medium heat, and turn every ten minutes or so, until they are golden brown all over and all the liquid is gone. They should be firm to the touch, almost look like they have a crust. Lay them on a plate and get two bowls ready. In one bowl, crack and beat one egg. In the other, dump in about two cups of panko bread crumbs. Take the strips of tofu, dip them in the egg, then the panko. Do this for all of them. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees, and then double dip the strips. One more time in egg, then panko. Bake for twelve minutes, then turn them over and bake for another twelve. The panko and the tofu both do not have much flavor, so add some seasonings into the crumbs before hand, or season the fries once they are done! Try it with ketchup, barbeque sauce, or ranch. Youll know they've come out right if the taste and texture is similar to fish sticks. Thanks!
