Honestly this was probably my favorite book out of the series. I didn’t feel like any thread was left loose, it was emotionally draining but the ending left me completely satisfied and filled with happiness.
(Note, this is mostly about each of the main ships, I’ll probably do a fuller review later)
I love how how she left Manon and Dorian open-ended, because honestly, an immediate marriage doesn’t fit them, or the grief they’ve both recently gone through. I felt this treated their characters and desires better.
And the way Manon slowly realizes throughout the book that she cares for Dorian and wants him with her was prime writing, it touched me, it was beautiful, I cried.
Elide and Lorcan, I honestly don’t have words for the way they’ve progressed. Lorcan (unfeeling, savage, brutal, bloodthirsty Lorcan) told Elide softly that he loved her.
Elide, who had spent the majority of this book hating and resenting him, leaped onto Hellas’ horse just to find him, to do what she promised.
I can’t wait for the first little lords and ladies of Perranth, Lorcan will be an amazing dad, even if his daughters will probably never date.
Lysandra and Aedion??? Amazing, beautiful, wonderful, I love it, I’d die for it, they both did wrong things to each other but forgave them because they LOVE each other? I Stan.
Chaol and Yrene were the standard of a married couple! The part where he tells her to go back to the walls and he’s so panicked and scared for her, but then he knows that she can do anything so he just tells her to save the world. Honestly I’d die for them. And the little Westfall on the way!!!!! I will protect that child
Sartaq and Nesryn? Honestly, I didn’t love how he didn’t ever seem to address her qualms about being empress, but hey, maybe they worked it out in private, we only had so much space in one book. And the way they fight for each other and worry about each other? !!!!
