Kamakiri general/romantic headcanons
He, having some characteristics of a mantis, is cold blooded
That’s why he wears such big and fluffy clothes all the time (like in Horikoshi’s drawing of him in his street clothes)
He also has a heater in his room that he keeps going most of the time, his room stays at about 70-80°F (about 21-26°C), and thats one of the few times you can see him in shorts, other than around the dorms occasionally
Honestly if you asked him out, at first he thought it was a joke.
Like, haha I dare you to ask out the emo mutant who hates everything
He gets really flustered when he realises you’re serious, though
Like, he brushes you off if you’re in public with a lot of people, but pulls you aside later to just say “ok fine” , give you his number and walk away
But if he asked you out, it definitely took a lot of hyping from Awase
He’s absolutely against any sort of pda, it’s just awkward and weird to him
Any surprise hugs given to him will end with your ass on the floor. It’s just a reaction, and he feels horrible when he realises it’s you he just shoved away, but still a little pissed off.
In private, however, he’s just a sweetheart

Also, important fact about him: he loves bugs. His mutation literally makes him a praying mantis. He doesn’t care if you like bugs or not, but it really just won’t work out if you’re calling them ugly or killing them.
He takes offence if you ever call a mantis ugly, and gets annoyed if you’re just insulting bugs in general. It kind of hurts to watch you step on bugs aswell
Surprise kisses with him also just aren’t a thing, unless you wanna end up looking like Jeff the Killer
You really need to ask him before so he doesn’t turn his head and rip your cheek open with who’s mandibles
Speaking of, he can turn his head nearly 180° like a mantis.
He’s still of course human, so he can’t quite reach 180°, but it’s enough to freak people tf out

His hair is super fluffy, and he loves it when you play with his hair. He really likes when you loosely Dutch braid it, but he hates pony tails and tight braids. They give him headaches
(I have really similar hair to him, like pretty much the same style but obviously mine doesn’t defy gravity like that lmfao)
(But just running my hands through my hair against the direction it’s swept in literally feels like heaven. Idk if that’s a good way to explain it but just apply that as you will)
He also asks you to check for any spots he missed when he shaves his undercut
The sea was quiet on this warm afternoon. Everyone who called the sea their home was up and starting the day. Mermen swimming off to find food, guppies being dropped off at Koral daycare by their mermaid mothers. Fishies swimming as fast as lightning just for the hell of it. Turtles letting the current take them wherever they decided to go. Smaller fish hitching rides on whales so they did not have to worry about predators. The reef was home to many many creatures, and off to the side under the sun sat a kingdom covered in kelp, it was a large part of a castle it looked like that fell in the water years ago. The King of the Sea lived here with his daughters . He had two very excited mermaid daughters and one very .. lazy one.

Every morning the King was up first to wake up the sea and get everything going for the day. That included waking up his daughters who were in charge of checking on certain things in the reef.
Asla had a red tail and hair , she was the oldest and a total daddys girl.
Tasla had a blue tail and hair , she was the second oldest and was the smartest .
And you. The youngest, you had green hair and a green tail. And you were still asleep.
Asla crossed her arms swimming off to tattle on you to Father and Tasla shook your shoulder till your tail slapped your clam bed. “Whaaaat.” You whined rubbing an eye.
“Its time to get up y/n, make haste.” Tasla spoke quietly , running her fingers down your back watching it arch . You whined again and she giggled moving her hand away. You got up giggling and Tasla pulled your hair back for you to put it in a tail. “Wheres Asla?” You asked yawning. “Where do you think?” Tasla answered swimming to your front.
You rolled your eyes at her answer . She's going to tell Father I was still asleep, great. A couple fish swam around you and your sister a few times and you made little faces at them till they tugged at your hair .
“Heeey, guys cut it out” you giggled trying to grab them. Tasla helped you till Asla came back looking smug. “Hmph! Father said since you woke up late YOU can go check on shark territory! “ she swam off and Tasla mouthed the word ‘sorry’ before joining her sister.

The shark territory was… questionable. Everything was grey and riddled with alegie and sunken war ships. No one dared to swim into this area . It was a high risk for every creature. It was abandoned most of the time on a count of the .. hunters. But for some reason your Father believed it was okay for you to check up on. You swam around an old warship with your arms crossed. “It's fine. No hunters come around in the morning. Just a quick check!” You mocked your father. Silly old man.
You sighed drifting down onto a decaying battleship wiping the dust and algie away to read its name. “Nagato? What an interesting name.” You cupped your cheeks sighing out into the distance. What a desolate place. You shook your head till your hair tie came out , you grabbed it fiddling with it in your hands trying to keep yourself entertained. Was the boredom the punishment ? Sure its boring but.. at least you did not have to check up on anyone . You laid your head down on the ship for a nap.
Meanwhile a small boat was cruising near the shark territory . Men were readying a net while the others looked for a drop spot. The net fell into the water drifting down right on top of something and fell down fast . One of the weights hit a warship sending a echoing noise everywhere and also waking you up. You rubbed your eyes to see the deep dark shadow sitting at the surface and got up swimming over staying low. “Oh no oh no. Hunters? Why are they here?”
The net was slowly coming back up once you went to it . You stopped to see a shark man tangled in it fighting to get out. By the time you were close enough the net broke the surface and you had to swim back down to avoid detection. A shark man?!? So early in the morning.. usually they are off hunting at this time..
You swam in circles biting your fingers trying to figure out what to do. Father? No he's too far away. And no fish were around either… The net dropped again this time falling straight down with no attachments, the mam still inside. The boat sped off and you swam down grabbing the net pulling on it.
“Hey!!! Wake up!!!”
The shark man blinked seeing you try to free him, his face was in great pain and he saw red floating from his cheeks . He growled tugging at the net till he fell onto the dirty sea floor.
“Go away!!! Im fine!!!”
“You're stuck !!! How are you fine?!?” You turned around looking for one of the weights digging in the sand.Your tail covered his face just making him more angry .
“Get that tail outta my face!!!” He reached through the net grabbing it . You squeaked turning around holding one of the weights , cheeks a light pink. You could see him now that he was not moving . He had a green mohawk and a pointy face , a slim build with cuts all over his chest , a long slim green tail with a fin on each side of his hips. His cheeks were bleeding too…
You were a mermaid obviously .. but you looked so confused , curious, you had green hair like him which was .. interesting. You looked like one of those little royalty mermaids.. what the hell were you doing out here?
You shook your head pulling the weight away and the shark man tossed the net off shaking his head . Quickly you turned around to see him towering over you looking angry. “What… happened to your face?” You asked, curious.
“Does it matter. “ he turned, swimming away only for you to catch up to him and stop in front of him, making him scoff slowing to a stop. “They took my blades , okay?” He shoved you aside swimming off again.
“Hey wait!!! What's your name? Your bleeding still do you need help?!?”
He stopped again by a warship making a fist. “Togaru.” He spit out. “I don't need help, especially not from some little princess.” He swam off again leaving you there to wonder and worry about him..
