Do you consider odalia and alador good or bad parents?
Both are bad, but in different ways.
Alador is neglectful and barely involved in raising his children, leaving that to his wife.
But he's not as ignorant as the fandom would like him to be - whenever Odalia used drastic measures, Alador was right there, explicitly supporting her actions.
Odalia does pay attention, but she has a rigid idea of what her children are supposed to be and ignores who they actually are. She acts under the belief that she knows better, even if they tell her that she is wrong.
Odalia is meant to be* the controlling parent.
She won't hurt her own children, but she will ruin lives to make sure her family gets ahead.
But also, because it needs to be said:
Both are bad, but neither of them are monsters.
Odalia still did raise them, made sure they got a good education and would be set up for success. Even if her way of doing that ultimately did a lot of harm.
And Alador eventually recognized how he neglected his children. At this point, they were already too old for it to make a meaningful difference, but he did what he could to make amends.
(* meant to be, because that aspect gets frequently ignored in the show. Amity does whatever she wants and Odalia doesn't do much until it becomes too obvious that something is going on.)
