I’ve had this idea bouncing around in my head for a while and actually sketched it out for once.
The comic stems from what if Grimwalkers need the magic of the boiling isles to function? He doesn’t have magic of his own but, like the glyphs, Hunters body was able to absorb the magic around him so once they’re trapped in the human realm, he loses his source. Personally I’m hoping this isn’t true as I’d love to see what shenanigans Hunter will get up to with everyone.
That being said, I just needed to get this down on paper and as a horrible writer, I’m relying on my art to do the job.
Gonna keep adding things as I overthink about this. Like:
- Vee would be the one to figure out what’s wrong. Even though Luz (and possibly Gus) knows he’s a grimwalker, it would be a leap for them to connect him passing out to lack of surrounding magic. Especially considering they know nothing about grimwalkers. Vee would be able to smell out that he’s lacking magic
- the hexes hold’em cards lose their magic in the human realm
- Owlbert used to regularly visit the human realm for garbage but never for an extended period of time
- in Any sport in a Storm, Luz and Amity learn that the Azura books (along with garbage) have been leaking into the demon realm via water. Betcha it’s a two way street and at the very least they could find a way to send messages into the demon realm👀 Hunter could also take a dip in the magic trash pool to wake back up
