Been struggling with some stuff lately and I was talking to a friend (rare, cuz I tend to just bottle things up) and he said, "You will make the right decision, and even if you don't that's fine, because we'll be there to look after you." And that's one of the sweetest things anyone has ever said to me.

I hate being the minority friend in the group like i’m the non-white gay friend so i always gotta be the one checking people on their shit. like i have to be the one saying shit like hey honey you shouldn’t say that it’s kinda offensive and everyone is always acting like i’m the sensitive one like i’m just making sure that you understand your privileges and don’t act as though you don’t have any.

So many people think being the token black or POC friend is just about making other people feel safe about your position in their group or lives, but it's much worse than that. You create a no challenge and friendly atmosphere for racist comments and fucked up things people would otherwise not say around POC. When you sit idly by and allow yourself to be someone's safe place for ignorant comments and purposely not interject, you're just as bad as them if not worse. You've slowly drifted into the tool and self hating category of persons.

I don’t understand how my so called “male friends” can just call women “ugly” if they are considered too thin or a little on the heavy side. Preference is one thing, but being crude is another.

I also get riled up when they only deem white and Asian women beautiful. Sure, they are very beautiful, but the anti-blackness I get from them just screams “self-esteem dropper”.

I’ll start referring to poc as “tokens” when they defend, ignore, or go along with their white peers’ blatant racism. Just like in the movies - no matter what they say, you’re just there to not make them look racist.
