Just read a fic and now I am filled with an indescribable needs to have more work setting in a supernatural town but our MC is the token human who may or may not oblivious to what's happening or their friends' true nature.

That friend is a bit dumb but well meaning and has more love to share and won't stand by if a rude man calls their friend a "mutt" or "blood-sucking parasite". You insult their friends, better be prepare for the baseball bat to kiss your face. Several times.

And their friends are very protective to this oblivious fragile human friend who is protective over them and it is a cycle.

Also, will make my heart flutter is the token human is so well-known that others (witch coven, werewolf pack, ghost haunt, vampire clan, mermaid pod, etc) wants to adopt them and their group friend is like THIS ONE IS TAKEN!!! GET OUT

I think it’s very funny if Chuck just... attracts nonhumans. He’s out here, doing his thing, for the most part minding his own business, and suddenly you’ve got half a dozen nonhumans deciding he’s friend-shaped.

The 1 normal human on the team. Due to wrog place wrong time got pulled in to their affairs. Unruly hair, so ties it up in a pony tail to contain it. Tech genius. Might as well make the best of it since shes here. Likes having fun.

hey Tumblr, you know that token-human-surrounded-by-aliens scifi trope you love and keep writing stories about? that’s Farscape! and you should watch it

Farscape is an awesome scifi show from the late 90s and although it arguably had a huge impact on the industry, it’s been mostly forgotten about. but now it’s on Amazon Prime! so please watch it. you’ll get such delights as

- a human (John Crichton) flung across the galaxy who insistently keeps making pop culture references despite no-one understanding them and his alien friends are constantly baffled by his biology and general human-ness

- STABBY THE SPACE ROOMBA aka 1812 the DRD

- Aeryn Sun aka the badass, brainwashed ex-fascist whose development into a compassionate, nuanced individual is the beating heart of the show

- an incredible romance between Aeryn and Crichton that is super healthy! it’s based on mutual respect and shared passion! and they go through really complex stuff and it’s sexy and will make you cry and you’ll love it 

- an anarchist priestess 

- just a lot of anarchy in general. and anti-fascism!

- Muppets. in space. 

- like seriously, Farscape was created in part by the Heson company and the visual effects are STUNNING

it’s just like, super weird and fun and has an amazing plot about trauma and war but then will also give you a Loony Toons-style episode right after breaking your heart in the previous episode and just please watch it, it’s amazing and daring and one of the best scifi shows ever created I promise

PS: it also has an epic heist episode in season two that is one of the best I’ve seen so.
