TIMELESSPROMISESHIPPING FANS LET ME HEAR YOU SCREAM (silence as i am dragged into a mental institution)

I love how the tokigou fandom (4 people) collectively agreed that they should have a litten and sprigatito 😺😺
ALSO, SNOM AGAIN
admitting I am also the anon who called you one of the most based people on Tumblr for liking tokigou sbsjsbs
I am EXTREMELY bad at remembering to reply to things so I never answered your question but my favorite thing about tokigou is just... gods I don't even know
I was there from day one when the episode released and there was something so... almost magical about their meeting and dynamic? they fitted together so well and the timing at the end with them meeting each other again in the present... AUGH, it felt like fate or magic and I loved all the theories that Tokio was actually a future Tokio who traveled back in time to make sure he could meet Gou there, they were so interesting and when we had no idea Tokio would return again later and he was never mentioned after that, it felt so possible
their dreams are so similar but their different personalities and ways of going about things make them fit together so perfectly, that episode where Tokio tries to drop out of the competition so Gou could win the tokens but Gou insists on a battle so they both have a fair chance and I think that says so much about both of their characters and how they care about each other a LOT
I was also a huge satogou shipper at the time so another thing was the difference in dynamics between tokigou and satogou both are so good in different yet also slightly similar ways
also, the episode just did so much for Gou's character, the line he had about Ash being "one of those guys too" had always felt interesting and like people had been shitty to him before but then we meet Tokio and find out the truth and see Gou never knew the truth, it explains quite a bit about what made Gou who he was in the first few episodes and I love that it turned out to be a misunderstanding/accident, especially since we learn Gou can be a little bad at reading people early on (hello autistic Gou headcanoners, I am one of you) it's also far more interesting writing than it was if Tokio has just been an asshole or something 😭😭
not to mention their meeting in the present time with the honestly really gay sparkly eyes and them both being so relieved and happy to see each other as if it would've bothered them forever had they not been able to make amends and talk and clear things up now they both know what happened, and the emotions Gou felt realising the first friend who really understood his dream was a real friend after all, the TEARS, just oh my gods????? the whole scene felt so romance coded and I loved it so much
(also "first friend who really understood his dream" I love Koharu and I am NOT discrediting her as an important friend of Gou's, their friendship is very important to both of their characters and I love it sm, but I never thought she really understood Gou's dream of catching Mew when they were younger? especially since she didn't care too much about Pokemon at all until later in the series/timeline, while Tokio had a similarly crazy dream of catching Celebi and loved pokemon so he got it)
but YEAH AJDHSHSJBS I love them sm, tokigou and journeys my beloved <333 I miss them
AAAA thank you :D and I’m glad to hear about all your reasons for loving them!! I do remember having my own theory about that when I watched Tokio’s debut episode, and you’re so right, it really helped to recontextualize some of Goh’s early behavior and just serviced his character a lot :D their reunion scene was so beautifully orchestrated too!
I wanted to try some fashion designs for older Goh and Horace!
shoutout to JN102 for being the polycule episode
*waves at my gay boyfriend gayly*
