I know you like music, so give me your top 10 music tracks from the Legend of Zelda 👀
I am finally going to begin to answer your ask! For me this is huuuuge and kind of agonizing because I love so much LoZ music. I decided in order to make the top 10 list, it has to be a track that I absolutely love to listen to on its own, that I can listen to over and over again without getting tired of it, and that succeeds in doing something beyond simply being good music: creatively, it must do something special.
It turns out, for me, that usually means the music has a strong dramatic component based on what's on my list so far! But I'm not going to do the whole list in one shot. I'll do a countdown.
10: The Final 14 Playable Minutes of Breath of the Wild.
If mixed seamlessly, 14 minutes is how long the music is from the moment Link enters the Hyrule Castle environment to when he puts the final arrow through Dark Beast Ganon's eye. I love every second of it. Musically, I love how it interwove Link, Zelda, and Ganon's themes with the BotW Main Theme and Champion's Theme, and how it communicates particularly Zelda's desperation toward the end.
I did a mix of these 14 minutes myself because as usual, Nintendo did not release their soundtrack in such a way that allowed you to listen to it seamlessly. However, it is way too long to embed it in a Tumblr post. I am still thinking about how to do this and not get myself in some kind of trouble, but as a stop-gap, the Tokyo Philharmonic performs these last 14 minutes (slightly different) here if you skip to 1:34:30.
