Peru hotel welcomes Venezuela's refugees | DW | 07.04.2019

Some 715,000 Venezuelans now live in Peru, and almost all of them arrived through the border town of Tumbes. Here, a compassionate hotel manager is providing refugees with a roof over their heads. Oliver Pieper reports.

I have lots of love for this project: #SouthAuckland-based photographer Emily Mafile'o is producing a significant solo exhibition for #Mangere Arts Centre called "#Tonga's Strength-Hold Is Its Heart". The exhibition documents Emily's journey travelling with her father and famili to the 150th anniversary celebrations of Tupou College #Toloa, full of large scale, uniquely Tongan festivities! MY READ ON Isaiah 1:17 — Especially if you are a leader, or looking to be one, under the guise of Christian values, your platform should include the commitment to looking out for the weak — especially when they are running from terror. These words don’t call to care for ‘only certain orphans and widows’ or ‘only if they are Christian’ or ‘only if they are already in your country’. Sometimes, the oppressed have no one to help them within their own borders & it’s up to the good people of the world to rescue them from terror.
