Spartan IV trainees getting their asses kicked by Lucy and Tom is just beaming while watching and saying “that's my wife”
Wife and I were watching the Lego Movie with a nephew, and I ended up making a new trash meme.
My apologies to everyone who has to see this.
Linda-087, Kelly-058, Tom-B292 and Lucy-B019 during Last Light: *still on their feet getting things sorted out after the battle*
The Gammas: *a little worn out but doing good considering Olivia had a broken leg and none of them had their smoothers in a good while*
Lieutenant Junior Grade Fred-104: *high on meds getting transported to medical, just happy to think about his little sled journey where Veta was on top of him*
parangosky: Tom and Lucy, two spartan-IIIs from beta company, who were sent to pegasi delta along with their 298 friends, all of them presumed dead after the operation, just sent me this
I cannot get over how good Last Light was!
Troy Denning did such a good job! Like I only read at work once my patients are asleep but I had been wanting to read at home as well because I wanted to know what happened next!
The story was well thought out with good detail and background whilst being simple enough that someone new to the franchise could follow it. I was interested from the start to the end and genuinely left wanting more.
His characterisations were amazing as well, giving actual personality to Spartans that had previously been portrayed as emotionless walls of stone. The obvious (apart from to the characters themselves) growing romance between Fred and Veta was beautifully written and subtle enough that it didn’t detract from the story but added to it.
The up and down relationship between Veta and the Gammas was lovely too, like it’s clear they respected Veta and her skills but were untrusting of her because of her temporary man hunt for Mark.
On the topic of Mark, the Gammas gradual decline due to their absence of smoothers was wonderfully handled too. You weren’t made to judge them for their actions or reactions whilst in widthdrawal, but instead you worried for them and were generally concerned for their wellbeing.
It was also refreshing to be seeing the Halo universe through the eyes of a human who was so completely opposed to the UNSC and ONI where previously we’ve experienced the universe through either a UNSC or ONI opperative.
Overall I loved the book and I think Denning did a wonderful job with this portion of the Halo universe! Personally I’d love to see him write a book with John as we might actually get a true glimpse at his personality. I also think a Red team focused book would be a good read if Denning wrote one. I just really appreciated the new depths of character Denning gave to characters old and new!
Halo thought
Lucy signing very inappropriate things to Tom because he's the only one who can understand
Tom: what do you want for dinner?
Lucy signing: your dick
Tom: just blushes and grabs her hands to stop her from signing anything else
Had the idea of Tom and Lucy in the hospital, Mendez insisted on them sharing a room because he knew whoever woke up first would panic about the other. So they get put in the same room only for a nurse to draw a curtain between them for privacy. Of course when Tom woke up he immediately went looking for Lucy and accidentally ripped the curtains out of the ceiling while passing out because he was in no shape to stand.
Had this little idea since we know Lucy could sometimes make small noises.
