The venerable CBS News program 60 Minutes has been torn asunder by Bari Weiss

Ever since right-wing hack Bari Weiss got a hold of CBS News (or more accurately, See BS News), 60 Minutes (and CBS News in general) has been torn asunder to appease her editorial line and the Trump Regime’s wishes, such as the delayed release of Sharyn Alfonsi’s “Inside CECOT” story and attempts to encroach on the show’s long-held editorial independence.

My latest on Substack: Scott Pelley and Sharyn Alfonsi stood up for the truth, while Bari Weiss demolished journalistic principles.

The once-storied 60 Minutes news program has sadly been torn asunder, thanks to Bari Weiss and David Ellison doing everything to make See BS News a home for right-wing propaganda and cheerleading for the Trump Regime. As for Scott Pelley, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Cecilia Vega, they all stood for the truth being told.

The MAGA-friendly head of CBS could be set on changing one of the channel's most celebrated shows. Bari Weiss has floated a handful of deeply unpopular changes at the station, with one including making sweeping changes to 60 Minutes. According to insiders speaking to Status, the change could cause a stir so soon after Weiss came under fire for suppressing a previous 60 Minutes story. Weiss is reportedly aiming to replace the popular executive producer of 60 Minutes, Tanya Simon. Should the move be made against Simon, employees may revolt. “It would be an earthquake-like event,” one CBS News staffer said. “If Tanya goes, you can expect others to leave,” warned another person familiar with events.

See BS News (CBS News) head Bari Weiss seeks to put her full imprint on the storied 60 Minutes franchise by aiming to sack Tanya Simon from the executive producer’s chair. I wouldn’t be surprised if at least two of Lesley Stahl, Scott Pelley, Bill Whitaker, and/or Sharyn Alfonsi follow Anderson Cooper’s lead of exiting the show.

Mainstream media is saying goodbye to another longtime staple, asCBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss made the call to shutter its legendary CBS News Radio, effective March 22.  This includes the “World News Roundup,” the longest-running newscast in the U.S. Weiss’ decision won’t just end a historical newscast, though. CBS Radio also provided radio coverage for 700 local affiliates across the nation, leaving a gap in coverage. 

“A shift in radio station programming strategies, coupled with challenging economic realities, has made it impossible to continue the service. We are sharing this announcement now to fulfill our commitments to our radio partners and affiliates, which require advance notice of the service’s conclusion,” Weiss and CBS President Tom Cibrowski wrote in a memo to CBS Radio staff, obtained by the Daily Beast. “The coming weeks will be difficult for the team members who have worked tirelessly at CBS News Radio.”

In the same breath, Weiss also announced a 6% cut to CBS staff as well. “It’s no secret that the news business is changing radically, and that we need to change along with it,” Weiss and Cibrowski wrote. “New audiences are burgeoning in new places, and we are pressing forward with ambitious plans to grow and invest so that we can be there for them. That means some parts of our newsroom must get smaller to make room for the things we must build to remain competitive.”

Bari Weiss and David Ellison helping to destroy the remaining heritage of CBS News (or more accurately, See BS News), and the move to shutter CBS News Radio is the latest such decimation.
