i would bet anything that the context through which greg's dad got with marianne is more or less the same as how tom got with shiv. rich party girl kinda messed up and on drugs, will take comfort that any passing gay guy has to offer....

Reasons Tboy Greg is Great:

1.) Projection

2.) It’d provide an interesting parallel to how at the beginning of his tenure he’s seen as “weak” and “submissive” and “moldable” by Tom who already sees him as sort of a feminine figure/wife replacement (i.e. the nerosporus stuff) but over the course of the show as he gradually begins to climb the corporate and social latter he becomes more respected (primarily by Tom) when he’s assertive (or as assertive as he can be) i.e. acting traditionally masculine like with the attempted blackmail and whatnot. He backs up Tom during the lawsuit, a case that comes at the expense of a woman; it’s the only way to make it in a male dominated environment like Waystar, womanhood and/or anything perceived to be of the feminine must be hidden away and punished. He must kill the girl he was before to get what he truly wants, both in a personal sense of being a “real” man and in the sense of gaining the respect of those around him. It makes him an interesting mirror to Shiv (even more-so than he was before) and to some lesser extent Roman who is also punished and ultimately looses because he was seen as weak. Additionally, while yes it’s true that the perception of Greg as “weak” or “less than” also gives him an advantage and allows him to get where he wants to be. It’s also true that despite his objective intelligence and capabilities he will always be seen by those around him as not truly one of them; a real Roy or a real man. Rather he’s seen Tom’s second, the castrated half-man Sporus following around his king but then again he’s right where he wants to be, isn’t he? Licking the boot of the man who granted him the honor of being a man in the first place but and the same one who can so easily take it away.

3.) The mental image of Mark going up to a 6’7 behemoth of a man and being like “you’re always gonna be a little girl” is really fucking funny to me sorry.

Aye perfect timing I was just about to make a post about some of my kin memories with him ^_^

🩵 • Tom really likes feeding me. Whenever he’s proud of me for something he usually rewards me with food of some sort. He’s also kinda into those trendy Tiktok foods? Like he’s always like “Greg there’s this pop up selling ube cronuts!! Come with me!!” And most of the time it’s not good tbh 😭 but I still like going and he still likes taking me, plus he almost always pays too so that’s nice I guess. He likes cooking from time to time too, that’s usually a lot better

🩶 • Big on physical affection. I’ve mentioned this before but he likes to touch my waist in particular. Sometimes it’s more affectionate like kissing my forehead or hugging me but sometimes he likes to mess with me y’know like messing up my hair or flicking my forehead but at the end of the day it’s all out of love… I think

🩵 • We like to take turns just like info-dumping to each other? If that’s the word? Like he’ll talk about something he’s really interested in, usually it’s y’know rich people stuff? And then I’ll start talking about stuff I’m interested in and then we just kinda get lost in it and lose track of time.

🩶 • Pet names!! I love them all, sure some of them kinda come off as demeaning y’know like ‘ratfucker’ or ‘parasite’, I’m not too sure how to feel about ‘sporus’? Like I guess it’s flattering? But in like kinda a fucked up way? Also weird allegory because I don’t have a dick to cut off? Whatever, doesn’t matter. I love love love when he calls me ‘Greggy’ <33

🩵 • He likes to dress me up kinda. Not like physically but he has a tendency to pick out what I should wear, especially if it’s to a party or something. Whenever we’re out shopping he likes to make me try on things and have like a little makeshift fashion show lol. Also! Sometimes when we’re like hanging out he puts those little butterfly clips in my hair, it’s sweet and kinda reminds me when my mom would do that to me as a kid ^_^

🩶 • Tom likes when I’m submissive…. like in every facet of life. Don’t get me wrong, I like doing stuff for him! I really do, makes me feel useful and wanted but it does kinda get a little exhausting tbh. But yeah no, he likes when I’m submissive.

so much of tom and shiv's relationship and specifically its origins are so clearly wrapped up in shiv's motivation to feel safe and to feel like a good person, so the fact that she later accuses him of being a conservative hick (ntm after she herself is the one who pushed for him to run ATN and just what, was so naively convinced that he could change it from the inside simply by following her orders and that logan would be cool with it?)... it's like, which is it? did she just used to be completely okay with a partner on the opposite side of the political spectrum than herself even though her career was in politics? and even though he's meant to be a safe harbor from her conservative family? ...or was tom actually much more openly liberal when they met?
