Recreate the iconic Tommy's Original Double Chili Cheeseburger in the comfort of your own kitchen with this copycat recipe. It's a deliciously satisfying burger loaded with chili, cheese, and classic flavors.
Ingredients: 2 lbs ground beef. 1 onion, finely chopped. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1/4 cup chili powder. 1 tsp paprika. 1 tsp cayenne pepper. 1 tsp cumin. 1 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp black pepper. 1/2 cup water. 4 slices American cheese. 4 hamburger buns. 1 cup canned chili with or without beans. 1/2 cup diced white onions. Yellow mustard, to taste.
Instructions: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped onions and minced garlic until they become translucent. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until it's browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the chili powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Add water and mix well. Simmer the chili mixture for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens and flavors meld. Keep it warm. While the chili is simmering, toast the hamburger buns on a griddle or in a toaster until lightly browned. Divide the ground beef mixture into 8 equal portions and form them into thin patties. Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes per side until they're cooked to your preferred level of doneness. Place a slice of American cheese on top of each patty and allow it to melt. To assemble the burgers, spread yellow mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a cheesy beef patty on top of the mustard-covered bun, followed by a spoonful of canned chili. Add a sprinkle of diced white onions on top of the chili, then place the other half of the toasted bun on top. Serve your Tommy's Original Double Chili Cheeseburger Copycat hot and enjoy!
