I really love that Jesus picked Disciples with such versatile backgrounds and personalities! A fisherman, a Tax collector, and a physician, to name a few! 

I wondered how they might look today, so here's a modern day take on that wonderful group of people!

WOW LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT HOW TERRIBLE BRONIES ARE

let me first establish that i obviously have no issue with boys liking a girl’s show. that’s adorable and should happen more often. girly stuff is just as awesome as manly stuff, people of any gender should be able to enjoy both.

BUT BRONIES TOOK IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL AND JUST KEPT GOING.

they have made this show, which was made for little girls, to teach them lessons about friendship and self-identity and compassion, to give them a variety of role models (and how very rare is it that little girls get role models?), all about them

their merchandise needs have to be catered to (bronies literally email hasbro asking for more male-targeted merchandise FOR A LITTLE GIRL SHOW)

their sexual fantasies are more important than little kids being able to browse the internet unscarred

their political opinions supersede the show’s messages

feminism is disgusting (even though MLP is clearly a very feminist show and the show’s creator also identifies as a feminist)

who cares about the little girls who this show was targeted towards; we the college-age dudes are far more important and worthy

basically they are acting like their fannish energy improves and redeems the show

they disdain the femininity even though it was made for little girls and therefore the fact that it values femininity is clearly a completely reasonable and really great thing

they are racist as heckie

bronies have literally made the fandom an unsafe place for girls of any age

college-aged (cis, straight, mostly white) men, to whom 99% of media is already marketed, who are already catered to from every media outlet, have literally taken over this TV show and franchise that was made for young girls, who already have so little going for them

like if you can imagine a 19-year-old rich white boy surrounded by gaming platforms and expensive action figures and a 9-year-old girl with, like, sheets of pink plastic. and then the little girl gets one cool pony toy and she’s really happy and then the teenaged boy fucking takes it away from her and keeps it for himself because you know what he deserves it more than she does for being a cis boy. that’s actually what bronies are doing.

also, a fanart blog dedicated to rape jokes using the MLP characters is one of the most popular in the fandom, and when some survivors of rape said “hey this is kinda not cool” they got so much abuse and scrutiny you’d think they just publically threatened national security

i don’t even have words for how entitled, immature, disgusting, cruel, deluded, selfish, and bigoted in every possible sense bronies are

not male fans of MLP, those are benign

but bronies. i will burn it to the fucking ground i swear on my favourite piece of discontinued fanfiction
