So here’s the thing about Laws of Attraction, the series that has given us such gems as a dramatic law office explosion, a grandma showgirl makeover, and a troublesome accountant being carried out by his arms and legs past the picture windows of a local criminal himbo’s horrible McMansion: It does an incredible job of making you care about the dead characters.

Usually when I’m watching the standard tragic backstory flashback, I’m not super emotional myself - I see why the character is sad, I care about their motivations, but it’s rare that we get enough to really feel the loss as the audience. But that scene of Charn’s mom’s murder was genuinely rough! (Probably because Film is so good at looking anguished.) And Tonkhao. Man, every time we get a Tonkhao flashback I get so sad she never got to know Charn. He would have made it his life’s mission to win her over, probably by buying her so much ice cream even she would have gotten sick of it. He’d have shown up at her school and threatened to sue the next time she got bullied. When she started dating, he’d have given her the worst possible advice that Tinn would have had to work overtime to undo. In short, the two of them would have menaced Tinn within an inch of his life and I’m so sad she’s not here to do that.
