12 for the ask game!
this is SUCH A GOOD QUESTION (you can recommend ONE video to a new phannie, which is it) because this has LITERALLY happened to me with a friend of mine, namely @the-lincyclopedia, who once asked me for one video to watch, got a barrage of suggestions, and had to remind me that they had asked for *one* to get them started.
My suggestion for them was pinof1 at the time. I think that holds up, but - again - I cannot help myself - I think there are other good options. @serendipnpipity was trying to make a playlist of 10 and I suggested either wdapteo2 or 3, because 4 and 5 build on the first few and 1 is such an oddball one off even in its time, I think 2 or 3 are good gateways.
