This is insane. I wonder how many people reading this are even aware.
So several years ago there was this animated webseries called “Lloyd the Rock’n Unicorn” that poked fun at 80s saccharine toy-comercial cartoons like He-Man and My Little Pony. The titular character was the hero of one such cartoon/world, who ended up becoming self-aware, got tired and fed up, and traveled to our world to live a boring quiet life. But characters from his past keep catching up to him... much to his annoyance and desire to not get arrested or fired.
There were several episodes (and a parody of the He-Man “What’s Going On” meme), it was clearly a passion project done with effort and love, and soon after a trailer came out announcing a big epic story arc...everything was gone.
Suddendly all the episodes, shorts and trailers couldn’t be found online. It’s like it never existed. One of the few remnants was an analysis video from another channel:
As it turns out, the videos had to be taken down due to... a music copyright srike, wich is weird because I’m pretty sure all the music used was original. Apparently someone was able to claim the rights to the music without the creator noticing until it was too late. Because copyright laws and youtube are jokes and in other news water is wet.
So after years of silence and burnout the creator was finally able to remake the original first few episodes with new music. I recommend giving it a try, even if cynical self-aware humor isn’t your coup of tea I think it’s cool to support ambitious indie animation.
(note: the n-f-t joke in the video above is not in support of n-f-ts, as the joke is that those two characters don’t understand how our world works, and the one who does was, well, unavailable to stop them).
