Imagine if the music wouldn't play
I've been listening to a lot of top 40's lately while I drive. Not because I think it is good music, but just because it's nice to listen to mindless, substance deprived music sometimes.
After a long day, imagine my relief when I switched on the radio in my car, decided to turn on JackFM, and heard John Lennon crooning the first lines of "Imagine". I really felt relief. It was like a breath of fresh air. Whenever I here "Imagine" I can't help but become high on music.
You may say I'm a dreamer
After "Imagine" finished, I switched straight to a Top 40 station, probably KIISFM or Power106, and had one of those "music is so shitty today" moments.
My mamas nice and my daddy's gay
It's just so different. Music is so different. Don't get me wrong, there are still so many musicians today that blow my mind, but the radio... the radio is a gigantic "popular culture" stamp on society. So much of what is on the radio is a disheartening reality of what we relate to/want to relate to/enjoy.
Tonight I'm on high on music. I'm high on lyrics that withstand time, effortlessly sung by brilliant artists.
Well I know that you're in love with him
Cause I saw you dancing in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man, I dig those rhythms and blues
