As Mulder and Scully sit in on Samuel Hartley’s faith healer service (and as he tries very hard not to look for visions of his sister), he wears his black overcoat over a taupe suit and striped off-beige dress shirt, with microscopic striping in between the blue, from ‘Young at Heart,’ and the purple necktie, accented with dotted taupe swirls, from ‘Gender Bender.’

Gender Bender (1x14) — Neck Tie #1a

In another highlight episode from season one, Mulder and Scully investigate the serial killings of men and women killed by an overload of pheromones after sex. At the first crime scene, Mulder wears a charcoal pinhead suit and a mid-grey linen dress shirt. The tie he wears, which gets repeated in the following scene when he briefs Scully in their basement office, is purple, accented with dotted taupe swirls resembling a topographical map.
