Falling: What does your muse think about falling in love or commitment?
fear-themed headcanon questions | accepting, sort of!@tormentedwings
jayce has a fear of commitment mostly because of how aware he is that most folks perceive him after they get to know him better, how often disappointed people are that he doesn’t live up to their expectations of the beloved poster boy. outside of his facade of a suave, charming hero, he’s a troublesome, blunt & bitter young man with very few (if any) close friends—he doesn’t think relationships suit him (since he’s terrible at them and how can he, a genius and prodigy, be terrible at anything at all? obviously that means it just doesn’t suit him---) and even meaningful friendships have proven themselves complicated if his backstory with viktor is to be of any value as proof.
love feels ludicrous as a concept, mostly exactly because of his fear of commitment and vulnerability. he has issues letting people in, most because most folks that have gotten close to him since his ascension were either interested in his status or as mere consequence of his job, so a sentiment as genuine as love feels like a difficult if not impossible thing to achieve. truth is, however, that when he falls he falls hard and even if it does take him a while to get anywhere close to love, when a relationship reaches that far it is usually an one way ticket into compromise.
