ToughTober build I never got to: Shadow Shield A solar-electric transport operating to/from Mercury. As much of the rocket as possible is hidden behind the solar panels, which the Canfield Joint thrusters keep facing the sun at all times.
Toughtober build I didn't get to: Tractor A skycrane lowering a rover to the surface
ToughTober - Inertia
An impact-fusion interplanetary pellet-rider based on this idea by ToughSF
A few months prior to departure, a solar sail does a sundiver maneuver and lays a trail of fusion pellets along the flight path, which the ship will guide into its scoop and smash into a small inert impactor, igniting fusion in the nozzle.
ToughTober - Frisbee
Just a small section of the 700km length of Frisbee's pion rocket. Most of those hundreds of km is just radiators to shed 14.5TW of waste heat.
Wet mass of almost 400 thousand metric tonnes, all to carry 100 tonnes of payload.
ToughTober - Sail
An interstellar Plasma Magsail pushed by relativistic particle beams. Very much based on the design by @triplchii.bsky.social
