XVI - The Tower | The Porcelain Order Tarot

We all took it to our heart. When we went too far into the unknown.

We didn't know what it was, assumed it's just sounds of the forest merging together.

We knew it had taken others nearby, dressed in dapper, neat fabric.

It seemed more like something from the deep sea.

I didn't like it, so we forgot. Hoping it was enough.

Enough to get it out from sight. But in my restless thoughts:

I see that blank face, and i keep wondering, what it was?

Process:

This was my first real project in Clip Studio Paint, and it was my first ever real painting project, too. I am terrified of color and usually consider myself a lineartist, if that. But last week I got inspired to create a whole series of Tarot cards for Ixchel that will chart her life's journey from an orphan in the Ferelden wilderness to her untimely death, to her resurrection, and to her new life full of love and hope.

This, the Tower, is technically the third installment. It depicts Ixchel's resurrection at the start of my fanfic Dead Pasts, Dread Futures. Solas, here depicted as the wolf Fen'Harel, surges through the splintered walls of reality to pull Ixchel's soul out of the Deepest Fade. He restores her to the body that he remembers before he took her arm and then sends her back in time to the Conclave to start all over again.
