So I commented on the toxic community of Mordhau on Facebook and yikes!

The fact the non-toxic comments tell me to turn off chat is a testament to how toxic it is. There’s only one person who defends the game’s community. I hope Conqueror’s Blade’s community when it comes out on Xbox isn’t toxic.

And this is why women are so hesitant on playing games!! This was after me and a buddy were screwing around in quickplay! I honestly thought it was so funny but I guess this guys too keen on being sexist, he didn’t focus on the game huh? Being called a smurf has honestly been the nicest thing someone’s said to me. I wish I was that good

On Toxic Games

I said this in a friend's post and I'll say it here:

If the game doesn't have a clearly stated and followed tolerance policy, I won't join anymore. And I make that position very clear. I don’t expect a game to be perfect, but each of us must decide what we won’t accept anymore and stand on that. Our presence will serve as the metric by which a game may be judged.

To the LARPs of the world, this is not a warning or a request. You want to survive? Fix the broken stairs. Fix the fucked staircases we navigate so carefully and gently so that no one has to confront it. Remove the damned lampshades and throw back the thrice stuffed carpets we've swept whole (sometimes literal) bodies under. Fix them or die out. We are not second class citizens.

If a game won't make itself better, they do no deserve us. There are resources available. People who actively want to educate. Do not allow these people to sea lion us, do not cast pearls before fuckers. Our lives are not and will not be theirs and they can educate themselves, or they do not care. And if they don’t care, then that says enough to me.

We should warn the Queer community to stay the fuck away from games Like That. We should warn PoC to stay away from them. We should warn women to stay away from them. And when any of us find a game with mostly white cis dudes we will know by our absence to give it a wide berth.

If they want to carry tiki torches?

MAY THEY BURN ON THEM.

Q.U.B.E 2 - Blast Review

Developer: Toxic Games Rrp: £19.99 (Gog.com, Humblebundle, Steam and Epic)

Q.U.B.E 2 is an improvement upon the first game in everyway. The graphics are better (which given the age gap and engine change makes sense), the puzzles are more refined and surprisingly there's an actual story going on. Unfortunately any game that's set in the first person perspective and has you solving puzzles is always going to compared to the duo powerhouses that are Portal and Portal 2. Those two games very much set the bar any game that makes an appearance in this genre and its a very high one.

Q.U.B.E 2 sadly doesn't meet that particular bar, not quite. That isn't to say that its bad, the puzzles are fun and while challenging are built up to gradually, each new mechanic that is presented starts you off with a simple task and builds up. As I mentioned there is also a story occurring as you play, I'll be honest its not breaking new ground with the twist as I saw that coming pretty early on but it actually made me care about the character I was playing as.

The main stumbling block I find for this is the price tag, the game isn't all that long and for £19.99 I expect a bit more play time out of it, or at least some kind of challenge mode or something. I was lucky and managed to grab it during the period that it was free on the Epic Store.
