Toyoko Kids Kabukicho May 2026
Here is an update on the current Toyoko area and how it changed. Due to the rise of incidents and net popularity of Toyoko kids and the toho area of Shinjuku by the Seibu Line, the government implemented new restrictions and rules. At first a couple years ago they had closed off the majority of the area with gates not allowing the normal homeless and Toyoko kids to spend the night there. Then, they added food stalls and Live events, so that normal population and tourists take over the area. The 2026 update is that they have fully forbade gatherings and crouching on the ground, via patrol officers. The area always had patrol guards but now they are instructed to not allow people to gather or sit. Due to this most of the kids were forced back to the original Toho area before the mass migration around the start of the TikTok era. we had a great time time there, but soon the government caught on and send patrol officers and vans to prevent people for gathering at that area as well. As for the TikTok famous area, the food stalls are now located in front of the 7/11 which used to be the main area where people gather. Due to this, many people that lack options and recourses have been committing suicide/ murder over the span of the past 2 weeks. most occur in near by cheap love hotels, which are used by the Toyoko kids as a nesting place. These suicide/murder cases have not been reported, or have been significantly hushed by the media Possibly unrelated but there have also been a peak of human train incidents, causing delays in train schedules. But that could be due to the "May blues" phenomenon in Japan, in which people that start work around March or April, feel extremely hopeless by May.
