IREM game collections for me to collect ⊟

Tozai Games, who memorably brought me Spelunker HD, has announced five volumes of collected IREM games for Xbox, PS5, PS4, and Switch, with big ol' physical versions coming from Strictly Limited.

This first release comprises Image Fights 1 and 2, and X Multiply, three shmups that I definitely haven't played and definitely want to. I also, in general, support the release of collections from this very cool, very defunct publisher!

Finally, hi, I haven't been writing many posts recently. But my 10 year olds are at a coffee shop having a graphic design coworking session, so I'm entertaining myself by sitting in a big fancy coffee shop chair and flailing textually at old games. Life is pretty weird!

Tozai porting Lode Runner Legacy to Switch ⊟

This voxel Lode Runner looked so neat when it was announced for PC. The only real problem I had with it has now been solved, with this Switch version.

Tozai Games has added a new 2-player split-screen mode for this version, with each player using one of the Joy-Cons (or one player using a Pro Controller). It’s coop! “By working together, you and your teammate can capture gold that is impossible for a single player to earn.” 

You can also make and share levels online. Make some easy ones so I can finally, as an adult, learn to play Lode Runner.

I’m so into this new voxel Lode Runner ⊟

I barely even understand how to play Lode Runner, but I want to play Tozai’s new Lode Runner Legacy, which was just put on Steam Greenlight. Look at those beautiful voxels! Look at that ill-advised but irresistible first-person mode!

Here’s the full list of modes, from Tozai:

Adventure Mode:    Sneak through the evil Empire and bring back stolen gold!

Puzzle Mode:          It’s all puzzles, all the time. No enemies allowed.

It’s supposed to be out this summer. I suppose that gives me time to actually learn how Lode Runner works.

R-Type Dimension III second trailer, screenshots - Gematsu

Publisher ININ Games and developer Tozai Games have released a new trailer and screenshots for R-Type Dimension III, offering a new look at the game’s visual presentation and polish, and showcasing improvements in lighting, effects, and animation as development moves closer to its final phase.

The footage also highlights both the classic R-Type gameplay and the refined modern presentation, which players will be able to switch between at any time during gameplay.

Additionally, ININ Games confirmed that the Switch 2 version of the game will ship on a game card, containing the full game with no required downloads.

R-Type Dimension III is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, and PC via Steam in May.
