No, but seriously, the Darkness better be some scary shit. Amateur hour is over.
I want to be scared when I see the Darkness, the Old Ones. They’d better be huge, like titans, with god-like abilities and absolutely no regard for humans. There will be no begging for mercy because they are indifferent to the plight of mankind.
The Darkness needs to be the most terrible thing the world has ever seen, because it is. It’s something that God himself saw as a true threat not only to his Creations, but to Himself, and needed to lock away (perhaps these things and God aren’t so different from each other...). Something that Lucifer, once God’s favorite and most powerful archangel, could not keep at bay without succumbing to its corruption and becoming a Dark version of his former self.
But most of all, the Darkness needs to be something that the Winchesters can’t beat. And if they can, it’s not without some real sacrifice, not without casualties on all sides. The Winchesters have gone too far for each other this time. Sam unleashed the Darkness by erasing the Mark that kept them at bay from Dean. Dean killed Death, eliminating perhaps the only being with the firepower to take them down. Both of their actions need to have heavy, devastating consequences, and this time, finally, they will learn their lesson.
This time around, there will be no more lies or deception. There are no more secrets between them because they can’t afford to make the same mistakes as they did in the past. The brothers, and Castiel, too, need to be a united front in every way, working as a single unit. They protect each other, but are prepared to let each other die if it means saving the world. For the first time since Swan Song, saving humanity must take priority over their own survival, over family. For the first time since then, their bond will be their secret weapon, not their downfall. They made this mess, and they will clean it up or die trying. And they’ll do it together.
But it seems like the only surviving thing powerful enough to take down this kind of force would be the big guy upstairs. Somehow, the team will have to find God, or perhaps God will come forward for the first time in who knows how long. But it will be a struggle, even for Him. This battle will require everything they’ve got. Honestly, unlocking a couple of archangels from the Pit would seem a likely scenario. After all, it’s what worked the first time they trapped the Darkness. It will be a battle that the rest of them can only stand back and watch, one that our boys will struggle to see because they brought this on and there is nothing they can do.
However, if God remains absent, or worse, He dies in a failed attempt to lock away the Darkness... well, I could easily see the show ending with the boys dying bloody, the world crumbling around them.
Either way, the Darkness must be an adversary that is worse than anything they’ve ever seen.
And I swear to god, if it’s more white dudes in suits, I am going to explode.
