I think this question is more of a theory, but here’s the thing: if Lawrence appears as a Lich (in skeletal form) in real life, will his human body show up on the astral plane of the river? I know it’s confusing, but I just think it’s interesting to share this idea
That’s an interesting idea! My personal opinion is that what shows up in the river is whatever you (subconsciously or consciously) associate with yourself.
During the time of BTD2, he was human in the river because he was human in regular life; it’s all he knew at that point.
He knew he wasn’t the same after his visits (he was decaying), but because he could never figure out how to stay in the river long term, it had little visible effect. That is, until he did stay there long term— for a very long time, until TPOF.
Once Law returned to the physical world to see why so many people were dying (Mason), he realized how much his body had decayed. His head was missing. That’s when he found the deer skull he has. When he returns to the river, he might still have a human form if he was attached to that part of him, but something tells me he’s not—
His bio also says he was human, once. Which makes me assume he’s accepted his lich form, and therefore sees something similar in the river.
Although, I think it’s something more in between, like this:
A form that may be inconsistent, constantly shifting or changing. I should also mention that the river works differently than the physical plane does, so it’s theoretically possible for forms to change or alternate, because the river doesn’t follow our rules.
