hidden track
Since i got better at burning CD's I got into the habit of hiding tracks on the disc. The hidden track often shared something very personal about me or the first song I heard with you or made me think of you. Sometimes the track would just be all the way at the end. Track #99. or as a digital file you could only find if you put it in your computer.
I liked the idea of the hidden track. It showed that I would go the extra mile on a mix cd. On the handwritten carefully crafted label and tracklist, there be no mention of it. No hint of it. And tragically enough if you never found it, then I know it worked. I want it to be found and I don't want it to be found all at the same time.
Often an obscure foreign language song that I don't even know what they are singing about, but sounds beautiful and I could only imagine what its about. Or an interesting rare cover song, only heard live once, a bad live concert recording, or demo.
Then there was the hidden track of all hidden tracks.
