As much as I like the Crave Series, I have a BONE to pick with it. (Crit under the cut)
Cyrus Vega is said to be ≈1,000 years old. Okay, sure. Whatever. Wanna what doesn’t make sense?
His accent. Cyrus has a British accent, which doesn’t make sense for if he is 1,000 yrs old because BRITAIN DIDN’T EXIST. 1,000 years ago, the Norse were exploring North America and the Celts existed. Realistically, he’d have a mildly French-Slavic accent and know a few dead languages. This is because both languages were prevalent around the time period he was born. Now, this isn’t to say that Hudson and Jaxon’s accents don’t work for them.
I think the point drawn between Jaxon not sharing his family’s accent is a very good bit of storytelling. It shows his detachment from his family and how utterly different he is from them. So he can keep his American accent.
Hudson having a British accent totally makes sense too; this way, we can now draw in the disconnect Hudson had from Cyrus, despite acting like the perfect heir. Hudson—being a royal about 200 years ago—would’ve been taught from a young age by a professor, who would’ve been British because Britain exists by then. Thus, he keeps his British accent AND we get an extra tid bit of angst and disconnect from the Vega Brothers to their parents.
(Delilah totally keeps her British accent too, I believe, since I’m pretty sure she’s not 1,000 years old like her husband Cyrus is)
