“FOUND! MATILDA UPDATE: our red-tailed black cockatoo, Matilda is home safe and sound after a long night and day away from home. She finally flew down to her keepers this afternoon from the tree she had been seeking shelter in since yesterday. Matilda went missing in Liberty Park after being chased away by a neighboring wild bald eagle that migrates here every winter. Her keepers are glad she is home and will be making sure she is healthy and happy over the next few days, after her time away. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to post, share and help us look for our beloved Matilda, and couldn’t be more grateful for her return back to the flock.”

“The Tracy Aviary flock wanted to reach out this morning and say thank you to everyone who has helped us in spreading the word and looking for our beloved red-tailed black cockatoo, Matilda since her disappearance yesterday. The outreach of concern and care for both her well-being and our own has been tremendous. There are no updates as of yet, but we are on the search for her as we speak. If you want to help us in the search, some Identification queues to look for are: -About 20" body length (a bit larger than a crow) -Beak will be hooked, from a far distance look rounded -Orange-red and black under-tail -Broad wings in flight, tail spread wide -Look for the crest (head feather raised) We have also attached a video of a red-tailed black cockatoo call in our bio (on Instagram), in case you hear her. Tracy Aviary is located in the heart of Liberty Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. Matilda went missing around 3:30 yesterday afternoon and is a strong flier. Knowing this, there is broad range of possibility on where she could be. She is incredibly smart, and choosy about who she will work with.
