Normally every picture I post is made by me,but this I didn’t managed to get to the festival myself so I took some from google because I wanted to promote a bit of folk traditions from my country. During spring,some villages from the southern lands of Romania celebrate a day called “Ziua cucilor”(Day of the cucu birds),an old ritual were both men and women make the most extravagant costumes they can think of they gather in the center of the village.From there they start singing and dancing,visiting all the streets and houses in the village while hopping like cucu birds trying to wake up spring from “the cold slumber” and bring nature back to life. They are also known to slap people on the back to “smack away the evil spirits out of them”. The most famous place to still keep this tradition is “ Brănești-Ilfov” that is only a few km away from Bucharest. The celebration takes place after the first full moon after the orthodox easter.
