TTT #1 (Hyperrealism Ver.)
In Anticipation and Celebration of Tears of the Kingdom I have decided to make the "Oh My God Is That A Zonai Swirl" into my daily alarm, so that each day I awaken to the sound us coming closer to finally, hopefully learning more about the Zonai.
Honestly it one of my pet peeves about fairy tail is the lack of worldbuilding, so Iv actually done a lot of thinking about stuff like religion within the world so here’s two things.
Minerva has some form of connection to religion, either through her being religious now or her ancestors were. She just casually uses Yagdo Rigora during the GMG against Ezra and Kakugra. It’s Yakuma Eighteen Battle Gods Magic, which is passed down through the now-extinct Yakuma clan that summons one the 18 Battle Gods, (Alok uses the same magic during the avatar cult arc). And it’s just?!? never explained or brought up or used again?!? Idk why, so it’s really up to speculation and headcannoning. But considering Alok had to burn his face as a “sacrifice” to use the magic t leaves you to wonder what Minerva did to be able to use such magic.
Sorano is definitely hyper religious. The women participated in angelolatry, the excessive honouring and worship of angels. Canonically during the orician seise arc she believed humans were impure, living as one is a sin. She views angels as perfection and wished to become one. Her whole angel magic actually has canonical ties to the book of enoch, a ancient hebrew text (in relation to Judaism). One of her angels she summons is Baraqiel, “lightning if god”, and is mentioned in the Book Of Enoch as the 9th Watcher is the 20 leaders of the 200 fallen angels. Shamsiel, “sun if god”, the 16th of the 29 watcher leaders. Another angels she summons is Raguel, “Friend of God”, one of the seven Archanegls in the Book of Enoch. Essentially this girl is Jewish, and has religiously read the book of Enoch and has a huge thing for angel worship. Personally I hc that she and yukino were born and raised Jewish and during the whole tower of heaven thing as a coping mechanism for all the terrible shit occurring she formed a obsessive, unhealthy connection to angels, hence the whole angel persona.
Also yukino is still Jewish cos I said so.
The gist of FT's world building all comes down to mashima going 'oh yeah this is gonna be cool af to draw' and not thinking of how it'll blend into the story properly (Minerva's magic like u said being a good point. Like this bitch can just casually summon gods??? God i hate that the magic system in ft is so unexplained that shit like that can just happen)
Also i can't believe i forgot about Angel herself in all this religious talk today, of course she and Yukino are jewish.
anyways burn the stage was great and i only cried 15 times nbd
I never want to ever hear the name of that cursed city ever again
What do you mean the story ended i just got attached to it
What do you mean the protagonist achieved his goal, became the strongest and is now living life as a teacher, husband and father what do you meannn
fellow montponine shippers it’s quite pitiful how our entire ship is based off of literally like 4 sentences of canon
