Delayed...Delayed....Delayed Jul1818
All I wanted to do this week was go to Karuizawa..
But no.. One amateur villain wannabe messed up the train tracks, and when they were finally fixed, THE SAME GUY showed up and wrecked them again!!
I’m angry, and when I get angry, I get stabby..
Maybe Kurogiri will help me find him..
TRAIN DELAY!
The use of an aggressive quirk has caused a disruption along the train tracks near the station. Heroes have been deployed to incapacitate the villain, but until then there will be no departures and all inbound trains will be held at their last stop. No major damage has occurred, however understand that we cannot control what happens during quirk battles. Should any damages occur, we will have construction started immediately so that trains can resume their regular schedules. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Hey love, would love to hear your thoughts about the below đź’–
40. Mantras
102. Hypnotized to be Unaware of Something/Social Norm (thinking it’s normal to be naked in presence of others)
Hey Bloom, thank you for the ask!
40. Mantras
Most of mylife, I understood the esthetics of mantras, but I could barely understand why one would want to repeat them. But lately, I started to see the appeal of building a set of phrases together that are charged with the feeling of (going into) trance, and repeating them and losing myself into them.
So not all mantras, especially stock ones, but some... Yes.

102. Unaware /Social Norm
I feel uncomfortable with being naked with people I trust, and the idea of being naked unaware in a group of random people is a turnoff.
But being unaware of the trance, and unaware of the effects of trance, that is a big yes! I also like the idea there is... *something* in my mind, but it is easier/funnier/better to ignore that for now and just go on. That is a way of mental stimulation that is a very hard high to chase.

Leaves on the line?
Something you’ll often hear about when a train is delayed, especially in the fall, is “leaves on the line,” making you wonder how something as simple as leaves could possibly slow down a train. You might also wonder about the various other things found on the tracks that delay trains. Well, don’t worry, for I will explain them:
Leaves:
When you have lots of leaves on the ground, and especially in a wet country such as Britain, they become a bit slippery. If you squish the leaves then they become even slipperier as they produce leaf juice. You can try this at home by running along some wet leaves on the sidewalk, and then trying to stop quickly. It’s the same for trains, except they’re much heavier, so they need to go slowly or else they’ll slip and fall. Network Rail has very advanced technology to deal with this: we don’t just send someone out with a rake, we attach leaf blowers to trains instead. A person:
If your train has been delayed because it struck a person, you may be wondering why it takes so long —after all, surely they just need to find a bucket of quicklime and a mop? The reason for this is that in real life, despite what you may have heard from unscrupulous cartoons, video games, and podcasts, people do not just turn into chunky tomato sauce when dying in a collision. Instead, they usually are in around one piece, and trains have to be stopped while the body is dragged off the tracks, a chalk outline is drawn, the train driver goes to meet with a psychiatrist, a full investigation is conducted, paperwork is done, and eventually once the RAIB releases their report train service can resume.
A tree branch:
There are a lot of complicated physics reasons behind this, but basically: the tree branch is pushed along by the train, collecting all other objects on or near the tracks, which can slow the train down, and creates a big pile of stuff at the end of the line that blocks some of the platform and is difficult to remove. We have to remove the branches before this happens, although it’s not too bad if we just pull them off the train at the next station.
A trespasser:
If someone is on the line when they shouldn’t be, you need to stop trains while you find someone to drag them off the line. You can’t just keep running trains, as you could hit them, leading to the much worse scenario detailed in “a person” above.
A bicycle:
I saw a different train had been delayed by this earlier today; this situation is basically the same as a tree branch except that a bicycle will probably get crushed by the train and could damage the bits underneath it, instead of collecting all sorts of trackside objects and ending up in a pile at the end of the line.
Water (liquid):
Water is very heavy, and in large quantities it can be enough to cause serious damage to a train in a collision; especially since trains are designed to travel through the air, not through water. As previously mentioned, the buoyancy of trains is unknown, and the risk that the train will float off the tracks is too high. Because of this, trains will have to stop running until Network Rail is able to bail out the affected area.
Water (solid):
In its solid form, water no longer obstructs the track, but becomes very slippery, and can interfere with the electrical connections between trains and the overhead wires or third rail. This can be remedied with salt, which returns the water to its liquid form, provides additional friction, and makes the rails taste better. Overhead wires are trickier to remove water from as the salt falls off the cables, so we send a special train around to chip it off with a stick. Note that as diesel’s freezing point is above that of water (and the freezing point of water is the freezing point of water), diesel (and steam) trains do not work in cold weather.
A red signal:
Sometimes, another train is in the way of yours. It is very difficult to properly signal a railway, and failure to do so can lead to hundreds of people dying in a massive fireball. See my other blog, @badopenttdideas, for more information on how railway signalling works. It’s basically the same in real life as in the video game, except that train drivers are more intelligent irl.
A freight train:
Either you took the wrong train and somehow ended up in North America; a British freight train broke down; or Norfolk Southern is up to no good again.
In the first case, you’re outside of Network Rail’s jurisdiction, and we can no longer help you. You are entirely at the mercy of American, Mexican, or —worst of all— Canadian freight railroads.
In the second case, you’ll need to bear with us while we remove the stranded train from the line. Since trains are heavy, we can’t just push it to the side of the tracks, so we’ll need to get it towed.
In the third case, we’ll have to chase down the escaped train, rescue its engineer and conductor, then figure out what exactly Norfolk Southern is trying to do this time and stop them.
Delayed train crew:
This isn’t Network Rail’s problem.
Upside: I finished this week's Wet Beast Wednesday post well in advance
Downside: I did that because it's about time my train was scheduled to get me home and yet I'm still stuck in the fuCKING STATION!!
