Earth, Heatherfield in general, was still a strange place for Tilda. The customs of these people were so different from what she was used to and the worry that something would go amiss, more than it had already done, ate away at her heart. Tilda was on edge almost every hour of every day, but especially after her meetings with the Guardians. Yes, they tried to help, even staying with Taranee was making everything so much easier, yet they were just young girls, like she herself, how could they ever dream of making a difference?
No, it was not fair to reduce them to something they were not. Tilda shook her head to chase away such thoughts. She was on her way to a different part of the city, hopefully finally finding the rebel contacts that had been promised her. Hope was running thin, but her Queen depended on her and Tilda did not allow herself to think of failure. She was strong, she was capable, just like the guardians. But most of all she was beginning to be desperate. Two weeks and no sign of those she was searching for. How long could this continue?
As if it was intent on mocking her the sun shone from the sky, painting the world in vibrant colors and chasing away every shadow, except for those that had crept into her heart. Tilda was missing home, she was longing for a familiar sight and it had gone so far that she dreamed of the places and faces left behind, waking up only to be at loss as to where she truly was.
A sigh left her lips as she continued down the sidewalk, stepping a side a little to make way for someone else, catching a glimpse of something from the corner of her eyes. Tilda stood still, heart racing faster as she tried to make sense of what she saw. The stranger that had just passed her by was walking ahead of her now, his back turned towards her and yet... No, it could not be. This was not possible. She was finally losing her mind, Tilda was sure of it. It was just her brain making her see something that was not there. If she moved now all she would gain was ridicule and disappointment. But the young girl could not stop her voice from calling out. “Caleb? Is that you?”, She could not believe her eyes.
