You know the fairy tale about the man who died, don’t you?

Yet another bump in the road
About 3 weeks ago I contacted my employers leave management company (formerly Aetna, now Aon Hewitt) to alert them that I would be requiring a family medical leave of absence for my surgery. I finally got the necessary documents last week and brought them to my surgeon to fill out, which he did and promptly faxed back to Aon Hewitt. April 30th was the last day I could reschedule/cancel my surgery and get a refund. I had hoped to have my leave approved before then, but that didn’t happen. So now this surgery is happening no matter what. I have called Aon Hewitt multiple times since April 30th to find out why my claim status was still pending and I got the same answer from 3 different representatives. It take 1-2 business days to process a claim and I will have the decision at that time. I called on May 4th to find out why it was still pending as the 1-2 business days had past. I was told that since the company switched from Aetna to Aon Hewitt there had been a delay in processing claims and it could take an additional day or two. So I called again today and requested to be connected directly with my case manager. I finally spoke to her and was informed that a decision would not be made whether to approve my FMLA claim or not until I actually have the surgery. I explained to her my reasoning for jumping through all the FMLA hoops nearly a month in advance was so I could go into this surgery and not have to worry about whether my time away from work would be covered or not. I explained that it is unhealthy for anyone to go into a surgery being stressed about whether they will have a job when they come out of it or not. If they decide to deny my claim, I will lose my job. I do not have sick leave or vacation to cover for the time away. She said that this was their policy because sometimes the surgeries don’t happen because of infection or illness, and I told her it’s an idiotic policy. I then explained that I will not only be going into this surgery stressed about whether I will have a job or not, but also stressed because I won’t know if my short term disability will be approved. At this point she told me that short term disability will more than likely be denied because this is an “elective surgery.” I told her this is not an elective surgery for me. I explained that I am a transgender individual and that I have a letter from my primary care physician stating that this is not an elective surgery. I also told her that Aetna covered transgender services and asked if Aon Hewitt covered it. Her reply was that it depends on Boeing’s policy and she did not know what that policy was. I once again explained that this is exactly why I was trying to get all of this taken care of before the surgery because I am now at a point where I would forfeit all the money I’ve put into the surgery if I don’t do it on May 13th, which is not an option for me. So now I will be going into surgery not knowing if I will have a job when I come out, and if I do still have a job I will “more than likely” not be getting short term disability payments which means I am financially screwed. In preparation for being on short term disability and not receiving full pay for at least a month, I have already eliminated any unnecessary expenses out of my budget (which I have planned out through next year) and am down to bare necessities and payments that I have already committed to such as car payment, insurance, rent, etc. The only 2 things I can even cut at this point are internet and Netflix, which is a total of $40 a month and my only source of entertainment after surgery (so basically not worth giving up at this point). I now have 8 days to do fundraising just so I won’t be totally screwed after surgery. So once again I must ask for help, something I hate doing and feel really uncomfortable about. This is what I am looking at financially while I am out after surgery: Medical Loan due June 1st - $250 ATT due June 7th - $145 Internet due June 9th - $30 Mor Payment due June 15th - $175 Car Insurance due June 19th - $275 Car Payment due June 25th - $360 IRS Payment due June 25th - $200 Medical Loan due July 1st - $250 Rent due July 1st – $975 If there is anyone out there that can help with any of these things, I would love to work on a repayment plan with you. After surgery I will be working as much as possible to get back to being stable again. I also still have journals for sale (etsy.com/shop/rileyjdesigns) and my gofundme account is still active (gofundme.com/becomingriley) I have Seahawks and Sounders gear for sale and several decals for sale (message me for details).
The other day some only woman said 'let this laddy on first' I want even trying to pass, it was brilliant
Companies that offer custom-made clothing for transgender and gender non-conforming people are coming to the forefront, as more diverse models gain visibility in the fashion industry – and redefine the parameters of gender identity. Ivette Feliciano reports. Continue reading →
India's Supreme Court has recognised transgender people as a third gender, in a landmark ruling.
"It is the right of every human being to choose their gender," it said in granting rights to those who identify themselves as neither male nor female.
Ok PSA to everyone who ever has a friend who comes out to them as trans*/non binary ect. And ask to be called a different pronoun DO NOT make it about you. Don't say "how should I remember that" or "you introduced me as a she/he ect. So im going to call you by that." or "i cant remember all these pronouns!!" or "i hate all these people coming out as trans* or whatever you call it!! It's annoying!!“ I know by experience of people saying those exact things to me and friends. So if you have a friend/acquaintance come out to you, be respectful of their gender. And dont be a dick.
