He’s her exposition tool. It’s such a clunky script writing option. It might have looked good on paper, but with scenes taking up maybe a quarter of the movie in which the protagonist isn’t really decided on, this is ANNOYING.

Yes, actually. The movie makes a whole lot more sense after a achrmbaghmbl bottle of spiced rum. Ok, there are still all those weaknesses but I feel like I now better get what they were aiming for. Trance really focuses on female fears in a way but it’s told by the wrong people. Somehow all the parts are good, great acting, beautiful shots, lightening, the script actually has some great points, even the terrible editing shines sometimes, but it never really works all together. And that’s distracting. Like you already notice - throughout the whole move - how much better this could have been. But it never reaches those levels, instead it mixes up your protagonists and who you should feel sorry for. Not in the good way either, in the bad transition-less one. Plus there all those elements from different genres thrown in... In a good movie this can work exceptionally well but it doesn’t here. And I can’t even say exactly why. Pity.
