More trans bros Mondo and Soda ramblings, this time about how they became friends. Happy birthday Mondo lol
It starts after a joint gym class one day. Their own classmates all know they’re trans, but outside of that not many people know, so both of them are thinking they’re the only trans guy at school at this point. There’s like one part of the boys locker room that’s kind of hidden from the rest and they’ve both been using it to change for gym, Mondo heads over to it and starts changing before Soda comes in, and Soda’s halfway through taking off his shirt when he rounds the corner and finds Mondo already there, currently just in his shorts and binder.
Mondo is 100% about to beat his ass out of embarrassment, but then he notices Soda’s binder and they both have a moment like
They’re both a little awkward cus they don’t know how they’re supposed to react, so Mondo just ends up silently turning to face a wall and gesturing for Soda to get changed behind him. They get changed back to back, don’t really talk all class, then do the same thing after class is over.
Soda’s pretty much convinced Mondo hates him lol
After that though, whenever Mondo passes Soda in the halls he’ll give him a little nod, and eventually Soda realizes that, while they may not be friends, there’s at least a bit of solidarity between them and he can stop worrying that he’s gonna get jumped by Mondo’s gang at some point lol
Anyways, a few months pass and Mondo’s bike starts acting up, so he decides to take it to the schools ‘ultimate mechanic’, not realizing who it is, cus he heard he’ll fix stuff for cheap. He gets to the garage and kind of pauses and stares for a bit once he realizes it’s Soda, and his RBF gets Soda thinking he was relieved too soon and Mondo is actually about to beat his ass oops
So there’s some tense silence before Mondo realizes he’s just standing there like a dumbass, and he finally clears his throat and is like “Uh, so you fix bikes?”
Soda’s still 50/50 on if he’s about to die so he’s like “Um, I can try?” which just makes Mondo laugh cus “That doesn’t sound very ‘ultimate’ of ya, man” and suddenly things aren’t so tense between them anymore.
Mondo rolls in his bike and explains the issue, Soda gets into it and starts feeling more confident, and pretty soon they’re freely talking about motorcycles and engines and what not, all the weird tension is 100% behind them.
At some point, Soda decides to show Mondo something else he’s working on and tries to pick up an old motorcycle engine to move it out of the way. He can barely lift it, so Mondo decides to grab it for him and lifts it with ease.
Soda can’t help but feel super jealous of Mondo’s strength, and tells him as much without really thinking.
Mondo’s not really used to hearing stuff like that, since he spends so much time around other jacked dudes in his gang, and gets pretty embarrassed and oops the tension is back.
Soda immediately apologizes cus he doesn’t know what else to do, and something about that just bugs the shit out of Mondo. So he puts the engine down and sits his ass on the nearest clean-ish surface while gesturing for Soda to do the same, and they finally actually have a talk about the big blue-pink-and-white elephant in the room.
Mondo explains that he’s been on T for years (compared to Soda’s handful of months) and it helps him build muscle, goes over Soda’s workout routine with him, learns it’s pretty garbage for actually building muscle, and offers to help him out next time he’s at the gym in return for fixing his bike.
After that, they start working out together regularly. They aren’t bffs right away, Soda’s super skittish and Mondo can be pretty aggressive without meaning to, so there’s a lot of tension at first, but as the months go by they slowly get more used to each other, start hanging out outside of the gym, start talking about things not related to muscles or engines, and one day they both have a moment where they just kind of go ‘wait... when did we become such good friends?’
And after that they just stay super close, get stupid buff, and tease the hell out of each other for their stupid crushes on their stupid loud, black haired classmates lmao
