Hi I just needed to like, get this out of my head. So.
Encanto.
Bruno, totes queer. Idk what spectrum of queer. I honestly don't care. Maybe he's aspec, maybe he's gay, maybe he's both. Maybe he's a homoromantic asexual or a homosexual aromatic. Maybe he's a bisexuality disaster. Idk, but man is queer AF. Abuela is obsessed with legacy and she somehow didn't manage to convince her only son to procreate? Yeah.
Anyway, point is - he's our queer uncle. I will come back to this.
The house, yeah, la casita? Totes Abuelo Pedro's spirit. Playful and loving, keeping a watchful eye on his family and has the ability to nudge the magic. I will ALSO come back to this.
Here's where our story actually begins, and it does not begin with Mirabel.
It begins with Camilo. Camilo, who is only a few months older than Mirabel. They were best friends when they were wee ones. They shared the nursery together, all their siblings having long vacated it by the time they came around.
Camilo, who was born Camila. Who always knew he wasn't the little girl his mama and papa insisted he was. He tried to tell them, more than once. But it was always 'Little Camilita and her games! Such a character!'
No one believed him.
No one except for Mirabel.
carlos and camilo madrigal—the twins of the madrigals.
the envy twins.
not quite identical twins, no.. especially when they were first born. one, carlos, was born a male, and the other, camilo, born female.
camilo grew up with piles upon mental piles of envy for his brother. he was jealous of the lucky twin, born with the body he wanted. they were twins, for gods sake, why didnt he have the same type of body as him? he knew he was thinking unreasonably. he wished to have the flat chest his brother was graced with, or the ability to wear a simple pants and shirt without being stared at strangely for not being in a dress.
carlos, too, happened to have envy for his twin. of course, it wasnt the same envy—he was born happy in the body he'd been given—but it still hurt him nonetheless. he was jealous of the way camilo could so simply make anyone have a genuine smile. carlos, due to his natrually unkind nature—which he wished to change but never knew how—would only ever get frowns or glares from people.. not that he didnt give them the same in the first place. sometimes he wished he had camilos caring nature, the ability to help others and be oh so kind to them without it giving him a headache.
so, they both had something the other wants. but, when together, they were able to put it past them and coexist without hatred, even with the amount of teasing and faux annoyance they show each other—that was just part of being siblings.
So I just watched Encanto,,,
We all agree Camilo is trans right?
The Last Time, EVER!
The Last Time, Ever by Sasha Sunday (aka me, Encanto Fanto) Camilla hated the white dress they were wearing. They were screaming and stomping their feet. Their Mama, Pepa, was red and crying, a dark storm cloud above her head. Snow was filling the room. Camilla shivered. Camilla’s Dad, Félix, pushed open the door. Making a pile of snow as he did. “Pepa, leave it to me. Okay?” He gently guided Pepa out the door, her face red. “It’s okay, Mi Viva. I’ll handle her.” Camilla looked out the window. Something had just made them feel very uncomfortable. They wanted to curl up in bed and cry, forget about the whole gift ceremony. But outside the window, fireworks were starting to go off. There was only one gift Camilla wanted. Camilla looked up at the emerging stars and wished as hard as they could... Read more!
