lydia’s long-avoided realization that being a girl doesn’t necessarily require liking boys overlaps with her realization that, well...she sees dead people. it’s a little unsettling at first when heather starts following her everywhere, ecstatic just to be seen and bored out of her mind with the shadow side of beacon hills. after a while, though, it’s just nice to have another trans person to talk to that isn’t stiles.
anyway, it turns out that ghosts make pretty great girlfriends.
Heather Chandler is a transgender girl you Cowards!!!!
If you change every “her” and “she” in The Me Inside Of Me to “his” and “him,” the song has an all new meaning
Instead of being about a “pretty girl” isolated by her image and beauty, it becomes about a trans boy who feels forced to uphold the image of the most beautiful and popular girl in order to keep himself in the position of power. It turns the suicide note into one of a boy who feels the only way to escape his image, and therefore the constant weight of dysphoria, is to leave the world entirely, to “make it better” in his absence.
