Where do you draw the line between being transphobic and being critical of transgenderism?
I know it when I see it. A phobia is defined as:
1. A persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous.
2. A strong fear, dislike, or aversion.
And as for number 2, I have definitely seen that happen in the name of radical feminism. That is people who try to hide their transphobia behind trans critical feminism, and it is not something I condone.

I'm uncomfortable because I don't understand much about their struggle. I think many Trans I have encountered were 'genderclowns' who seem to make trouble and problems where there weren't any before. Maryland had legislation about bathrooms recently.
Well, I have a lot of trans people in my life so I’ve HAD to educate myself; for example, I was in a relationship with a transitioning transsexual for years. That means I’ve read every study on the subject that exists, countless of books and blogs (both pro-trans and anti-trans, and I ended up trans-critical myself. It was one of the reasons I got so involved in radical feminism actually.) It’s vital to understand trans and queer theory to make up your mind about it.
I’m not from the US. Where I live, there is legislation regarding women and trans people, but to say the truth, legislation so far hasn’t been much in favor for trans people (for example, they were subjected to forced sterilization up to last year, which is illegal to do to women for any reason here). But in other countries, it’s different. I know people from Iran who tells me that being homosexual is outlawed and transition is encouraged as a cure for homosexuality; you’re killed for being gay, but if you choose to transition, you can walk free. All depends on local legislation.

tumblr followers and gender...
Whenever I post something that deconstructs or challenges the social concept of gender - I always loose one follower but then immediately gain like four or five new ones!!! It happens every single time! Does this happen to anyone else?
Actually, challenging gender is a good method for sorting the wheat from the chaff.
Natural gender?
TW - trans-gender, trans-sexuality, deconstruction of gender
In the natural world, i.e. in nature - there is homosexuality and bisexuality and asexuality and intersex (e.g. hyenas) and celibacy and masturbation and all the things humans do and that some people inaccurately claim are 'unnatural'....! but evidence proves these things are natural because all kinds of species do them - and do them naturally. Occasionally, there is even natural trans-sexuality.
But nowhere in the natural world, i.e. in nature, exists the phenomenon of trans-genderism or gender-confusion. I guess the obvious explanation for this - is that nowhere in nature exists the concept of gender.
Sometimes humans (males ones usually) attempt through their own worldview to classify behaviors in animals and call it gender; such as submissiveness or aggressiveness - but sexes in all species exhibit all behaviors - so calling it "gender" is ludicrously unscientific and deliberately ignores the facts.
Who is more dangerous to a naked human without a weapon - a hungry male lion or a hungry female lion? Stupid question. If aggression is a "masculine" gender trait then why is a wolf-bitch protecting her cubs more aggressive than a wolf-dog protecting his territory? Another stupid question. If submissiveness or preening are gender traits then why do we see both male and female sexes displaying these behaviors? Duh! Because behaviors in nature are not gender based. Because gender doesn't exist in nature! double duh.
Sometimes individual animals change sex i.e. are trans-sexual - but lets look a bit closer before we claim this rare and naturally occurring trans-sexual phenomenon is evidence of trans-genderism or that it is supportive of the idea that humans are trans-gendered naturally.
Some individual fish or frogs have been observed to change their sex organs. This occurs if the population does not have enough of one sex to allow procreation and survival. e.g. the reed frog releases a natural chemical trigger that activates the sex gene to disintegrate the female organs and develop male ones. Some tree species can reproduce asexually. But again this is completely naturally occurring and reproduction related not for gender expression.
In other words sometimes animals naturally grow male or female sex organs in order to reproduce (never via surgery or to 'express' themselves). Their bodies do it for pragmatic reasons and their minds have little idea what's going on. It is natural trans-sexuality - It would only be classified as trans-genderism if they also start wearing nail-polish !
Because changing sex and changing gender are two very different things!
Notably - humans cannot change sex naturally and when they unnaturally (i.e. via surgery & externally derived hormones) change their sex - they become infertile and can no longer reproduce, their sex organs are "pseudo" and not natural or naturally functional.
Whereas although humans can change their gender - it is because gender is arbitrary - what is perceived male by one person/society is perceived female by another (e.g. displays of emotions or mannerisms) - and humans can only change gender using unnatural and external means (such as makeup, clothing and acting in socially defined ways).
I realize that - despite my initial trigger warning and this being tagged radfem - some trans people will still have read it and are now ready for a debate and even to attack me personally. sigh. If you are itching to dispute the above please stick to the science and facts only - I am not interested in emotional and endless debates (which are boring and pointless) and so probably won't bother replying especially if you insist on hiding in anon while you send abuse or rape threats (yawn). If however you are prepared to be calm and rational then I am happy to hear alternate arguments.
Respect a transman when they respectfully correct me on their pronoun. Correct them just as respectfully about not calling me Cis. "BUT CIS IS WHAT YOU ARE IT'S TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN YOU AND TRANS PEOPLE SO I'M CALLING YOU CIS."

Anon you are correct. This is because the trans-activist community is generally made up of M2Fs who have no respect for women or understanding of the oppression we endure - shown by the fact that they are constantly trying to silence us...!
If trans”women” are women - then there is no NEED to differentiate between trans"women" and women. Either they are women - or they are not. They can’t have it both ways. (But the trans community insist on referring to women as 'cis' because they know there IS a difference.)
...So, lets make it real easy to understand why the prefix 'cis' is not necessary at all:
I was born female. I grew up a girl. Now I am a woman. Ergo I am a woman.
A trans”woman” was born male. He grew up a boy. Now he is a man that believes he is a woman. Ergo “she” is a trans-woman.
One can refer to women as women - and trans-women as trans-women. This is clear, accurate, easy and respectful and everybody knows what you mean - therefore no silly prefix is required. The majority of the world all use these terms every day with no confusion at all. (And BTW - off the internet no one knows what the fuck you are talking about when you use the term ‘cis’.)
The practitioners who are exploiting whatever happens to be the latest victim group or the latest fashionable "disease" are entirely aware of what they're doing. Procedures are how you maximise your profit in medicine these days and you've got a whole heap of OBGYNs who no longer deliver babies because of liability issues and who are looking for other ways to maximise their income. You've got cosmetic surgeons taking away clients from plastic surgeons, so there's another group looking for a new demographic of clients. There's a huge amount of discussion in medicine and mental health about sub-specialities within sub-specialities and about para-professionals taking over roles which were previously "protected". Even better, when a field is relatively new and there's not a whole lot of evidence-based research driving it, liability is very limited - it's pretty hard to fail to meet the accepted standard of care, especially when you can (legitimately) claim that your actions aren't directly responsible for whatever undesirable outcomes someone is experiencing (surgery didn't make you into a sex goddess who has straight men and lesbians falling at her feet and it didn't make radfems let you into lesbian spaces). It doesn't just happen, they deliberately target those groups. "Counsellors" are probably the worst because they're not even mental health professionals. Nobody who has spent over a decade qualifying as a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist calls themselves a "counsellor" and yet the transworld is full of such pseudo-therapists (so were the recovered memories and multiple personality disorder communities) who are held in higher esteem by those communities than actual, qualified professionals. Transwomen complain how much they're being oppressed but most refuse to see how much they're being exploited by the industry which has sprung up around them.

Transsexualism is a legitimate disorder but what it has been turned into is fueled by all sorts of nasty shit
To the teenage mtf's who read my blog yet are quick to dismiss everything I have to say
I'm glad you're reading my blog! If you're disagreeing with what I write, that's cool - at least you're getting exposed to a different kind of thinking about trans issues, which is based firmly and 100% in the reality of living as a trans woman for a really long time.
Ultimately, I want the best for trans women, and I want the best for females. You don't have to believe that now, but maybe you will later.
Please keep reading and thanks for your comments!
