“Do you remember that time a couple of months ago, when Optimus was dying and you held his spark in your hands?”
Ratchet had asked you to come to the base immediately. Thinking it was an emergency, you asked to have the rest of the day from work. Rushing to get to the base, you thought of tragedy. Maybe someone was hurt, maybe Prime had been injured badly, a thought that was too unpleasant for you.
But to your surprise. He looks fine. Sitting next to Ratchet, Optimus looks away. His optics were avoiding you and you could swear that there was a faint blue across his plating.
“Yes— Wait, I am sorry,” you move your hands in front of you. You didn’t understand the secrecy and nothing was making sense because no one else was here but you, the Prime and the medic. “Am I missing something? Did you make me miss work just to give you a verbal report on something that happened months ago—”
“Optimus is with sparkling,” the Autobot medic said. “And it's yours.”
“Ratchet!” Optimus looks at his friend, offended. “You said you were going to be more delicate when delivering the news.”
“Delicate?” Ratchet asked in a sarcastic manner. “You are having the first sparkling Cybertron you have seen in centuries and you want me to be delicate?!”
You tilted your head, expressing your clear confusion.
“What is a sparkling?”
Optimus and Ratcher look at each other with a knowing look. Optimus, then looks away.
“Alright, let's start from the top,” Ratchet said. “Look, when two Cybertronians have very strong feelings for each other … They, um, they–sparkbond. Holding one’s spark is an extremely intimate act. From the act, a sparkling may be born but between Cybertronians, it takes a lot more for one to be conceived. We know you did it to save Optimus’ life and honestly I didn’t even know that humans and Cybertronians were compatible like that—”
“Just cut the chase, please,” you said. “What is the problem?”
“Mmm how can I say this in your language?” Ratchet gave it a thought before carefully putting words together in his mind. “You accidentally had sex with Optimus and now he is pregnant with your baby.”
You fainted.
.
.
.
The thing with Optimus is that it was really hard for you to understand him.
Now he is telling you that you accidently had sex with him and he is having your baby. You wanted a deeper explanation but you don’t know how to ask without offending him.
He was distant and even shy. Yet, he wouldn’t dare to say a word to you. As if he was angry or maybe disappointed? Whatever it was, you had to talk it out.
You asked him to see you outside the base.
He waited and when you arrived and sat next to him, he moved a few inches away from you.
“Alright, what’s wrong?” you ask him as he looks away.
“It’s nothing,” he simply answers, still not being able to look at your eyes.
He had mass-displaced. Meaning that he didn’t want to completely push you away. He still trusts you. After all, Cybertronians don’t mass-displace in front of others. It was a sign of weakness and vulnerability. Only shown to the people with whom they have an extremely close bond.
“Nothing? You’ve been avoiding me all week!” you try to look for his optics but he is still stubborn. “If that baby is indeed mine, then I think we–”
Oh, there they are. His cyan optics. Brighter than the stars. They are beautiful. He is. More when there is a fierce in them, making your whole body tremble.
“Oh, so now you are questioning it?” he said in a sarcastic tone. “I understand if you don’t want this sparkling but I beg you to never doubt that it's yours.”
It was a strange situation. You had never seen Optimus feel so offended by something. He tried to be calm but it was clear by his voice that he was displeased with your words. Maybe he was right, you should have worded things better.
“Optimus, wait, I never said I didn’t want it,” you take a risk and put a hand on his shoulder. “It's just— Well, I mean I didn’t even think it was possible! We are not even dating! I don’t know anything about children and I don’t know, I am scared.”
One day you were a hot single and now you are a hot soon to be mother. The idea didn’t displease you but it certainly surprised you. You always thought that you might end up alone and if anything, you expected to have a human family. Not start one with an alien, one that you weren’t even dating. But life had other plans.
“I am scared too,” Optimus’ voice becomes gentle. “I am sorry … When Ratchet delivered the news, I don’t know why I expected you would be … excited. Maybe even happy.”
“I am sorry too,” you say. “I should have supported you instead of fainting."
There were awkward smiles between the two of you. Not knowing what to feel or say, you adjusted yourself next to him. Even when mass displaced, he was still way bigger than you. You feel him moving as well, getting closer to you in a protective manner.
Looking up at him, he is making you feel things. Unknown feelings which you didn’t want to think about too much.
“Now, what do we do?” you break the silence.
“Well, sparklings usually take about three Earth years to develop properly inside the carrier before they are ready to be online,” he says. “So, I think we have a bit of time to figure out things and learn.”
You can’t believe what you were about to say. It was a bit strange to think about the possibility of the two of you getting together but then again, all of this was strange from the beginning.
All you had to do was to take responsibility.
“Well that’s good because meanwhile I would like to get to know you more intimately,” you stretched the back of your head, this time parting your sight from him and focusing on the view in front of you. “If you are ok with that of course.”
There was silence and you took the courage to look in his direction.
There was a very noticeable blue blush on his faceplate. A servo covered half of his face. His blue optics didn’t look your way. Was he … nervous? Shy? The thought made you embarrassed as well. You look the other way.
“As in courting?” he says. “You would like to court me?”
His voice sounded surprised. As if this was the first time he had ever been asked out like this.
“Yes? I mean, I think the best thing for the baby is if it's born in a family right?” you stumble on your words. Shake your hands from side to side. “Unless you want to raise it by yourself?”
“No, I would love to raise this sparkling with you,” his voice sounds excited only for him to make a pause, lowering his optics for a small moment and then looking up at the view. “
“It's just that I believe it's unfair to you,” “If you are with me, I won’t be able to grow old with you. We will be unable to do things humans normally do.”
The stars were bright in the dark Arizona sky. The moon covered a good portion of the sight, a few shooting stars were noticeable as well. It was cold and you can feel Optimus getting closer to you, trying to protect you from the cold winds.
“You are saying I won’t have to see you die? And you and my child will live for millions of years to continue to remember me? That sounds fine to me,” you smile at the thought but then another doubt rises. “But um, you see, humans aren’t pretty when we get old and maybe I’ll even forget about you, so I understand if you don’t want to do this as well.”
“I love your soul,” Optimus says abruptly. “And I’ll continue to love you even when my spark runs out of life. I will find you in nothingness, I am forever bound to you.”
“Wait, so that means you like me?”
You wanted to hide your evident blush and embarrassment from him by teasing him.
“That’s only in the case if we Conjunx each other,” Optimus tried playing it cool but it didn't work very well. “Nothing more.”
“Are the mood swings already affecting you?
“Please be gentle with my spark,” he simply says. “I’ve been through a lot lately.”
“Yes, sorry, I’ll stop with the teasing,” you take a long look at him. His fierce and gentle faceplate. His tall and well built frame. The kindness and tiredness in his eyes. Genuinely, he is beautiful. “It's just that it feels like you’ve changed a little.”
“Changed?”
“Yeah, I think you sound more lively and look more beautiful.”
“Beautiful?”
“Not that you weren’t before!” you quickly tried to word your thoughts better. “You just, well, look um—”
Trying to explain became harder. Especially when he kept looking at you, his heavy gaze was one to behold. He could put any star and any kind of beauty to shame. There’s a beautiful glow to him that was complicated to describe, leaving you speechless.
“Sorry, I don’t know what I am saying anymore,” you once again look away. “I just want you to know that I look forward to getting to know you better—”
Suddenly, you feel a cold servo caress your cheek. Making you look at him, you know what he wanted.
And you are scared because deep down, you wanted it too. You didn’t know if it was right or if anything good would come out of this. Because you wanted this to be your happy ending but the dangers still lurk in the darkness. It’s a war afterall and no one is safe. Maybe you will have to leave him at some point, for his safety. For your … sparkling.
But for now, in this awkward and gentle moment, you can pretend this is your happily ever after.
Optimus kisses you.
And you kiss him back.

"The Spider sets a calculated trap to lure its prey. But unfortunately, the Monarch butterflies are poisonous to predators because of what they eat. By trying to consume it, the Spider is ultimately poisoned..."
Someone has probably pointed this out before but I just had a horrifying realization and I need to share with the class 😭😂 transformers falling in love with humans is probably equivalent to the lady from the bee movie falling in love with Barry B. Benson 😭😭😭💀
