Personally, my top four Scooby-Doo movies, not counting the live action ones, are :Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, Alien Invaders, and Cyber Chase.
(Though the Loch Ness Monster has a special place in my heart because of Shannon and Professor Pembroke.)
(and Monster of Mexico... I do have a love for it.)
Sorry. I just saw your post on Scooby media and I couldn't help but say something. :)
(recently got my hands on the original Scooby Doo where are you DVD set and the Scooby Doo and dyno mutt series set.)
(Dynomutt was paired with the Scooby-Doo show. The versions that introduced Scooby Dum and the 10,000 volt ghost.)
I have incredible nostalgia for Alien Invaders and The Cyber Chase! Tbh I think they're both better than people give them credit for (and I also never understood the hype over Zombie Island (which is a good movie but a lot less fun) and Witch's Ghost (which I straight up dislike EXCEPT FOR THE HEX GIRLS!)! The supporting characters in Alien Invaders are so alive; I remember them all in great detail. Along with Mystery Incorporated, this might be the best cast of characters in a Scooby Doo media. And The Cyber Chase, admittedly, may be more nostalgia but everything that happens at the last level is great and for a Scooby Doo movie it manages to have a pretty nuanced take on whether technology is useful or dangerous (it's both but it leans more towards useful and fun). The Cyber Chase is a sweet movie, you guys are just mean ('cause I've seen criticisms of it).
I was distracted when I watched The Loch Ness Monster so that might be the reason why I didn't like it a lot.
The Monster of Mexico is another nostalgia trap for me! The movie is actually... not that good. I watched it very recently and, like, it just isn't but I will probably watch it another 2 million times in the future.
It's fine! I do love to talk about Scooby Doo. I've written about 20k words worth of analyses on Mystery Incorporated and I'm not done! I will try to post those in 2025. I may have also started writing some posts for What's New, Scooby Doo and, like I said, I do plan on reviewing the movies!
(I know about the Scooby Doo/Dynomutt hour, though I can't say that I care about the Blue Falcon. Dynomutt is fun as a character!)
The second live-action movie (2004) is actually in my top 4 Scooby Doo movies! (I don't dislike the first but I think the second is better.)
The other three are the most unlikely culprits. Watching the Scooby Doo movies was such a surprise for me because literally every single movie that I was convinced I would hate turned out to be super great. I was so apprehensive about the crossovers with DC (Scooby Doo and Batman: The Brave and The Bold and Scooby Doo and Krypto Too) and Scooby Doo: Mask of the Blue Falcon but I liked them all a lot! Not so much that I'd put them in top 4 but they are definitely all in top 10!
Funnily enough WrestleMania Mystery absolutely grabbed my attention. I have never cared about WWE but I think the movie is very fun and they managed to create a pretty good mystery. It is one of the most exciting climaxes in Scooby history imo and, of course, any Scooby media that has the gang suspected of a crime has me seated.
I was positive that I'd loathe Big Top because I'm not a fan of circus mysteries. Usually because they involve clowns. However, this movie was actually pretty fun! It's a little of an acquired taste I think but hey, the Scooby gang were almost fooled! That's always a big plus for me and builds up the villain.
Probably my most favorite out of all these is Shaggy's Showdown. The idea of a western-inspired Scooby Doo movie was sure throwing me but it's actually amazing! Shaggy (who has become my favorite from the gang) gets to shine so much and making his ancestor the "villain" is an interesting direction for the movie. It's not perfectly unique (unfortunately, Frankencreepy) but it's done pretty well in this movie (again, unfortunately, Frankencreepy).
I also enjoyed Camp Scare and Abracadabra Doo a lot!
