Town Hall, Chandni Chowk Delhi . . The Delhi Town Hall was the seat of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) from 1866 during the British Raj till 2009, when it was shifted to Minto Road. It was initially known as Lawrence Institute and housed Delhi College of Higher Studies, before it was bought by the municipality for in 1866. Originally a bronze statue of Queen Victoria stood in front of the hall. After independence in 1947, it was replaced with a statue of the Arya Samaj leader Swami Shraddhanand. Swami ji's statue is in constant distress from the hundreds of pigeons around this place. There are a bunch of vendors here who sell grains for the pigeons and safeguard the well being of the pigeons which are a big part of their livelihood. We got to hear an earful while trying to get flying shots of the pigeons. It was apparently disturbing the pigeons who were supposedly having their lunch. The location is officially termed Ghantaghar after a clock tower that once stood here. . . 📷@traveltapri . . #indiatravelling #instadelhi #_soidelhi #traveltapri #shotonpixel2 #travelph #delhifoodguide #pixelperfect #india_ig #delhigram #snapseed #googlepixel2 #delhidiaries #madebygoogle #pixel2 #delhi6 #indiapictures #delhite #teampixel #indiatravelgram⛪ #huntgram #yourshot_india #streetphotography #streets_and_soul #bestshots #storiesofindia #streetdreamsmag #yourshotphotographer (at Town Hall, Chandni Chownk, Old Delhi) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqJNl2LFQGm/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1b93c2dqr32cj
