6 - Any new favorite authors?

Ursula K. Le Guin! Can't believe I hadn't read anything of hers before this year.

Terry Pratchett - had read just one Discworld book before (Mort), and the handful more I read this year really cemented him as a favorite! They're each such a unique treat and his sense of humor really works for me.

12 - Did any book inspire you to create?

Many!! Wind and Truth, Queen of Shadows, Wizard of Earthsea, and Mad Ship are the ones I actually got to - there are more in the works from The Goblin Emperor, Ship of Destiny, and Temeraire <3

13 - How would you summarize your reading choices for this year?

Zero discernable theme really, just tried to read Good books for Fun and Enjoyment. (and branch out just a little into nonfiction!)

18 - Some books you bought this year

The whole Murderbot series so I could have copies to lend out + reread on demand. happy birthday to me <3

This Earthsea omnibus, with illustrations by Charles Vess - one of the best decisions I made all year tbh

A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan (memoir-style historical fantasy.. tragically middling)

Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell (middle grade fantasy, very charming) (bought mainly because of the gorgeous cover and interior illustrations by Ash Mackenzie)

And, not a novel, but: A Field Guide to Floral Dragons, bought so I could pore over Kin Wald's wonderful art 🙂‍↕️

6: What are you looking forward to in the next week?

hmmmm ... probably just the weekend coming up. we don't have anything going on for the first time in like over a month which is just. so nice

17: What were you doing at 12:30 this afternoon?

i was at school! probably doing our transition between reading intervention and science

47: Where did you get the shirt/sweatshirt you’re wearing?

every year my district hands out a new t-shirt at our welcome back and i think the one i'm wearing is from last year

i do! she's four years younger than me

I drink tea and i like it with milk and sugar :)

7. What’s your ideal number of blankets to sleep with?

Depends on the weather tbh. Usually 1 in summer and 2 in winter

12. Who are five (or more) people you want to hug right now?

My grandma who I haven't seen in a couple years, my 4 year old nephew who lives in India with his parents, and my three close friends!

What’s a good book you’ve read lately?

Bold of you to assume I can read 🤩

Last one I started was Castle In The Air by Diana Wynne Jones but at this point it's been so long I would probably opt to read Howl's Moving Castle again first and then go back to the sequel

6. Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to?

The Jasmine Throne, The Dragon of Jin-Sayeng, and Legacy of Ash were all on my 23 In 2023 book list and I didn't quite get to them. By November I realised all the books I had left were uh Very Big and I'd been intimidated by them and that's why they've been left unread for so long. I'm putting them on my 2024 list though!

20. What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations?

I was soooooo excited for The Untethered Sky and for once the hype was real <3

Another piece of media that will break your brain (since anon suggested one I figured I would too!) is Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. I literally had to go on a very long walk after I finished that book to try to process it lol
