Things I noticed Rereading The Raven Cycle:

THE DREAM THIEVES (The Raven Boys edition can be found HERE)

Or as I like to call it: The Character Development of Ronan Lynch

1.       What’s all this about what happened on the day Ronan was born though? Cattle crying blood? Ravens laughing? Sounds messed up.

2.       Ageless Gansey reference #7

3.       Okay but who sent the other people looking for the Greywaren? How many people know? How do they know?

4.       What even is up with Ronan seeing his dad shoot the Devil? Is it actually the Devil?  What are we even supposed to do with that?

5.       Ashley the Girlfriend still sticking around. “Seemingly oblivious” to Declan’s cheating. Right. Girl’s on to something. Girl’s sketchy.

6.       Fair Trade coffee as a flirtation device. That is all.

7.       Why did Declan tell Ronan months ago to keep his head down? How much does Declan know?

8.       The Orphan Girl tells Ronan she is his psychopump. A psychopump is a something that guides your soul (in Greek Mythology it guided your soul to the underworld.) She goes on to say that makes her a raven, and Ronan a Raven Boy. I don’t even want to know what that all means,honestly.

9.       “There was a raw potential to the sleeping herd. Like someone with the correct word could rouse a stampede.” Hmm.  Interesting. Not like that happens or anything.

11.   What guy with a possibly French accent is sending people in search of the Greywaren?

13.   “Oh, mint tea,” Calla said [to Blue] meaningfully, ruining the mood.” NICE. Don’t play with Calla. Calla knows all.

14.   Blue wearing a Beatles T-Shirt. Gansey writing Beatles lyrics on maps. You know where I’m going with this. It involves mild squealing and smiling like an idiot.

16.   Ageless Gansey Reference # 10 AND THIS IS A BAD ONE OKAY: “‘You have,’ the woman said to Gansey, ‘Grown so much since the last time I’ve seen you. You must be nearly…’ and at that, at the moment of guessing Gansey’s age, she hesitated. Adam knew that she had sensed that otherness to his friend: that sense that Gansey was both young and old, that he’d only just arrived, or he’d always been. She was saved by a glance at Adam. Quickly assessing his age, she finished ‘Seventeen? Eighteen?’ ‘Seventeen, ma’am,’ Gansey said warmly. And he was, as soon as he’d said it. Of course he was seventeen, and nothing else. Something like relief passed over the woman’s face.” WTF? Maggie purposely wrote a woman to ask his age to include this paragraph. What is even going on I just..

17.   So Glendower stuffed a person into a hollow oak tree. There is a hollow oak tree in Cabeswater with a man-sized cavity. OKAY.

18.   You know what else in a little sketchy? Persephone’s PhD thing. I’ll believe it’s actually a dissertation when I see it.

19.   “’You’re the one dealing with creepy things. Running with people who use time more than once.’ Blue thought about how Gansey had cheated death on the ley line, and how he seemed to be old and young at the same time. ‘Gansey?’ ‘Glendower!’ [Calla replied]” I’m exhausted I just can’t even begin to think of what that means

So here are my hopes and dreams under the cut! (i'm bringin this face back aw ye)

My first hope is one that will *definitely* not come true. I want the sequel to be like the first couple volumes of the original series: just a fun, lighthearted adventure story. I *loved* the early TRC volumes, and I would have been totally OK if the whole story had just been them exploring around for feathers and having adventures.

You've probably seen from my posts that I ship Kurogane and Fai like FedEx. It has always been my head cannon that they went exploring around with Syaoran/Tsubasa Li and kept being their perfect husband selves. Please don't let the sequel spoil my selfish wizard/ninja husband head cannons >.<

Please no more pain/angst for Kuro and Fai, they're really had enough. No more traitor!Fai, he's had such character growth, please don't let all that be for nothing!

I think about the line "Watanuki's price was to stay in one place and Syaoran/Tsubasa Li's was to never stay in one place" a lot. Let's hear more about that.

THIS POST THO The gang is traveling through all the worlds, they could tie up many of Clamp's loose ends this way ;) I mean the first series was a roller coaster of cameos, am i right?

My last hope: is that I can talk/interact with all of you about it while it's coming out (◡‿◡✿)

The only one that is probably going to come true is #6, ha ha. I need to dial my expectations back to zero, because ultimately this is Clamp's story. I've been burned many times for having unrealistic expectations for a series and being disappointed when it does not come out like I want (see: Harry Potter)
