Years had gone by since Isami's passing. Bravern thought he would have gone to the afterlife with him, or wasted away as a constant guardian for his pilot's grave, but he could not.
'Live.' Isami had said - the last word he ever uttered. And so he lived, as per the wish of the love of his life.
Years passed, and no one was able to fill the void Isami had left behind. With blessing from humanity and Superbia's promise to protect Earth, Bravern bid farewell to the planet he called home, and departed for the stars. Faintly, he recalled Knuth's travels through the cosmic silence, a familiarity he shouldn't have felt but did. The silence was a beautiful lie. The roaring of celestial bodies would've been unbearable had the vacuum of space not suffocated them.
He didn't know how long he roamed or how far, only that eventually, he arrived at a planet he did not recognize. It was occupied. He could tell. On a whim, he scanned for the nearest settlement, and then he dove, burning through the atmosphere. Air felt foreign upon his plating after eons spent adrift in the cosmos. As the ground rose, he took a smooth turn, and engaged his wing thrusters to slow his descent.
Regardless of his intention, his arrival shook the earth, creating a sizeable crater where he knelt on one knee. Heat rose from his frame, alien metal steadily cooling as steam escaped from the seams. He waited a moment for his systems to settle, and tried to shake off the strangeness of feeling heavy again. Then, he stood, armor clamping down once his temperature stabilized. Amidst the dust and smoke, he waited to be approached.
"I am Bravern." He called out, voice resonant and firm despite its previous disuse. "I have come to be a protector of this world."
