Happy Monday everyone! Here's our first @assuagedapp #vegan plant-based #recipe for Labor Day! For those of you that may not know, we changed our diets because of health reasons. Thane was rendered obese and prediabetic, and I had more medical issues than I could count at the time. Medical challenges are a common trademark in all #Craniofacial disorders, including Treacher Collins Syndrome. Since our veganism transition, Thane reversed everything, and my symptoms have significantly improved. We've been growing our essential oils collection since January. I can't express how much these have benefited our lives and our well-being. I went to three appointments yesterday to the Doctor, Dentist, and Ortho. I'm still tired. Also, I'm hoping I've found the cure for these painful UTIs. I've endured two just this last month. Treacher Collins Syndrome is a chronic illness that necessitates medical care throughout your entire life. So today I'm winding down and making a new hair recipe with my oils. Also, I will begin packing for next week's Annual Craniofacial retreat today. It's going to be sad not having my niece Amberlee with me this year. An astonishing memory recollection is her running around with the other girls on dance night. She's still been heavy in our hearts and minds, and we've been praying for her recovery every day. It's been a few days, since my last post. I just overcame another painful UTI and eye infection, which are often chronic in cases of Treacher Collins Syndrome and craniofacial conditions. Thane also had a few minor struggles relating to his PTSD, but he too persevered! He created some beautiful vegan dishes, which will play a large part in our upcoming charity project! It's important to remember that living with a disability DOES NOT limit you. With dedication, one can rise above any hardship. Since the beginning of our marriage we've always taken random photos, and so I just included a few from this last week, including today. P.S. Happy Birthday to someone very special to us, Mattie! Thane and I believe that he will one day change the world for transgender children and adults everywhere! I met Matt in Florida during Christmas 2013 when I began visiting my niece Amberlee following her Alopecia hardships. He and Amberlee we're dating. Matt had also just endured a traumatic event involving a freak accident that ignited his entire face and body on fire. This brave young man has persevered through so much, but he comes from an amazing and supportive family. In 2015 Matt and Amberlee ended up relocating to California to live with us. While they have both moved on since their relationship, we also remained very close to Mattie. Coincidentally his precious girlfriend of 1+ years is also named Amber! It wasn't until a few days before Matt moving in with us that we found out that he was transgender. He was among the first operated on in a U.S. Naval hospital. The online world is brutally cruel, and someone thought it would be funny to call him out via social media. It wasn't... Mattie called us in a scare during his relocation drive from Florida to California. He was worried that we wouldn't want him moving in with us now, because of his "differences." My husband said these exact words during that phone call "We met you as Matt, and that's who we know you as, and nothing will ever change that." It was a beautiful moment that I'll never forget. Matt has taught us so much. Also, he and I personally relate on so many different levels. In similarity to his challenges, being born with Treacher Collins Syndrome and having several surgeries to repair the craniofacial anomalies, I could relate. When you're different, people can see that, so the challenges are greater, and there exist the subject of harsh criticisms and judgment. But he's risen above ALL OF THAT. And he's also inspired Thane and I on our journey too! I'm exhausted after yesterday but am so ready for braces today! My husband and I took this just outside on Easter Day. He's the love of my life, my bestie (BFFE).
